Would you like to take up the technical challenges in relation to electrical installations in wind turbines in offshore wind farms?

Join us in pursuit of a sustainable CO2 neutral future and become Electrical Specialist in the WTG Technical department. Our department is responsible for all mechanical and electrical parts of the wind turbine. For the electrical specialists, this includes generators, converters, switchgears, transformers and LV/HV electrical systems in both the tower, hub and nacelle. We support the business throughout the value chain, from qualification of wind turbine suppliers over wind farm construction and to operations.

The department is part of Wind Power which has 1,800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world's largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe, and we are expanding with international activities in the US and Asia-Pacific.

You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work.

Your key tasks will be to

  • maintain and develop technical requirements specifications for new wind turbine contracts while aligning with internal interfaces to the grid and foundation
  • manage technical supplier agreements for wind turbines within specific wind farm projects, follow up on requirements and interfaces and identify opportunities for improvements in cost or lifetime production
  • take part in quality assuring the project deliveries from our wind turbine supplier and their subsuppliers by managing requirements for test and inspection and by participating in first article inspections (FAI) and factory acceptance tests (FAT)
  • follow up on technical issues during design, manufacturing and installation while managing internal and external stakeholders and updating the risk register
  • support the Operations & Maintenance department with trouble shooting, approving technical changes and other ways of reducing the maintenance cost or extending the lifetime of the turbine.

Our main work is managing technical risks in wind farm projects. We do this by setting technical requirements, analysing risks and identifying risk barriers and other improvements. We work in projects and will often travel to suppliers and construction sites to keep abreast of things.

We are also in charge of the LV system design in the foundation platform, including assuring proper grounding and EMC.

Your qualifications and core competences include that you

  • have a master's or bachelor degree in electrical engineering or other similar technical background
  • have experience with HV and LV systems
  • have a proactive and systematic approach to your work tasks
  • speak and write English fluently
  • thrive in an international environment and are able to create good relationships with your stakeholders.

In addition, you have analytical sense and a good technical understanding. Preferably, you have experience with wind turbine design and design of HV and LV electrical systems. You can translate technical observations into concrete project risk descriptions, you are able to identify the actions needed to mitigate risks, and you can manage these actions with suppliers, projects and colleagues.

As a person, you are self-managed and have good communication skills. This allows you to drive efforts and achieve good results in a complex organisation with many stakeholders. You are open-minded and find motivation in working with others. You feel accountable for your work and deliver as promised.

We offer
A chance to work with HV and LV electrical challenges in a world-leading renewable energy company. You will be a part of a team of ten highly competent and committed electrical specialist colleagues. While we do not design wind turbines, we work very intensively with requirements specifications and risk management in respect of both new and existing technology.

It is a unique and challenging job where you have the opportunity to develop your skills, while you help to run some of the world's largest offshore EPC wind projects.
In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
