The Department of Technology and Innovation (ITI), University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, invites applications for a vacant position as Head of Section for SDU Engineering Operations Management. The position will be at the rank of full or associate professor.

The Head of Section will have direct reference to the Head of Department, and will be part of the department management group.

The candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the section, its teaching, research and innovation. The current academic fields include:

  • Engineering aspects of operations and supply chain management
  • Systems Engineering
  • Industrial engineering, including quality control and assurance
  • Engineering Management including costing, risk, reliability and decision making

The section has responsibility for the following educational programmes:

  • MSc in Operations Management (taught in English)
  • BEng in Global Management and Manufacturing (taught in English)
  • BEng in Manufacturing and Management (taught in Danish

Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD or equivalent.

The candidate is expected to have an excellent track record in:

  • Research and education in Operations, Systems, Industrial Engineering or Engineering Management
  • Attracting competitive research Funding
  • Collaborating with industry

Experience in innovation and bringing research results to the market will be highly valued as will developing continuing education programs for executives and professionals. Leadership experience will also be highly valued.

The position is open now and the start date is as soon as possible but negotiable and preferable no later than 1 Jan. 2018.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree within the mentioned research area and will be expected to teach and instruct students who participate in bachelor and master courses.

Owing to the increasingly international focus of the degree programs, applicants must demonstrate ability to teach in English. If the successful applicant is not fluent in Danish, he or she will be expected to learn Danish within a period of approximately two years.

All non-Danish documents must be translated into English.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview may be applied. 

Employment shall be on the terms specified in the labour market agreement with the opportunity for individual negotiation.
