We are looking for a Compliance Manager with legal background for the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Engines & Marine Systems of MAN Diesel & Turbo, a global industry group.

MAN´s Compliance Management System focuses on the areas of anti-corruption and serious economic crime, antitrust  and money laundering prevention.

The Compliance Manager focuses primarily on preventive measures to avoid Compliance infringements and thereby negative consequences for the group/company, its officers, employees, shareholders and business partners (e.g. fines, prosecution, black-listing in tenders, damage to reputation). In limited areas the Compliance Manager supports the detection of and response to Compliance infringements.

The Compliance Manager, based in Copenhagen (Denmark), reports to the Global Head of Compliance/Compliance Officer (CO) of the MAN Diesel & Turbo Group based in the group´s headquarter in Germany (direct report, technical and hierarchical) and has a dotted line to CEO / Managing Director of MAN Diesel & Turbo Denmark/Copenhagen.

Tasks and responsibilities:
Advising the head of the SBU, the management and the departments on Compliance issues in the areas of anti-corruption, including serious economic crime, antitrust and anti-money laundering as well as regular reporting on these topics.

Executing primarily preventive Compliance measures, for example:

  • Communicating Compliance topics (for example: processes, tools, policies, whistleblower system, news, lessons learned)
  • Verifying the integrity and approving all medium / high risk Business Partners (e.g. agents, consultants, JV-partner, licensees)
  • Responding local Compliance helpdesk questions
  • Conducting Compliance training and presentations
  • Verifying Large Project Applications, certain payments to Business Partners and alerts re. Business Partners in the CCM (Continuous Control Monitoring) system
  • Supporting centrally steered Compliance Risk Assessments in regular intervals.

Taking care of approx. 15 Compliance Champions (usually the CFO or commercial director of a local or central unit) of the region “Europe”. The Compliance Champions have the task of implementing and/or supporting Compliance processes in the local group companies and central departments.

Qualification and skills
At least 5 years Compliance related working experience in international company, international law firm / advisory firm or similar organization

  • Preferably degree in law or economic sciences
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Analytical skills regarding Compliance and business issues and risks and sound judgement when balancing Compliance risks against the business benefits
  • Communication skills: ability to explain Compliance requirements and to convince people of the importance of Compliance
  • Assertiveness: ability to make decisions in difficult and sensitive situations, to explain and to implement
  • Ability to make and defend decisions towards senior management in complex and sensitive situations, Assertiveness
  • Intercultural understanding
  • Absolute integrity and loyalty
  • Fluent in Danish and English
