DTU Fotonik, the Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, invites applications for a position as associate professor in Experimental Quantum Photonics. The aim of the position is to expand the Departments teaching and research in this field.

The department has state-of-the-art optical laboratories, including ultrafast spectroscopy and device characterization, and access to cleanroom facilities, and the associate professor will benefit from collaboration with established groups within the area of fabrication, theory of light-matter interaction in nanostructures, modelling and design of nanostructured devices, and ultra-high speed optical communications. With the announced position, the Department wishes to strengthen the experimental efforts within semiconductor quantum photonics.

Responsibilities and tasks

The applicant must be internationally recognized with documented research in several of the following areas:

  • Optical spectroscopy of semiconductors and nanophotonic structures
  • Epitaxy and processing of semiconductor structures
  • Quantum photonics
  • Quantum information technology
  • Physics of quantum dots and quantum effects in semiconductors
  • Application of semiconductor structures for quantum technology

The candidate is expected to take a leading role in defining the Departments experimental efforts within semiconductor quantum photonics, to seek funding for the activities and to attract students to the area.

The candidate is expected to collaborate with other research groups at DTU and at the department and to contribute in general to research and teaching within the area of experimental nanophotonics. The candidate is expected to participate in departmental teaching at all levels so you should value visionary and meaningful communication. The teaching will cover Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level courses.

 

Qualifications
Candidates must

  • hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship
  • document didactic/pedagogic training  

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • experience in teaching and education
  • scientific production and research potential at an international level
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is available from September 1, 2017.
