Embedded Linux Developer

Cobham SATCOM is looking for an Embedded Linux Developer that is passionate and competent about embedding a Linux kernel and customizing BSP and build root packages into an embedded device with the constraints and challenges that it brings.

This role is based in Kgs. Lyngby, Copenhagen.

As an Embedded Linux Developer your main responsibilities will include:
Design, implementation and test of robust, secure and maintainable software modules and applications running in Linux/Busybox environment. We are using C or C++ as the main programming language, but also different scripting languages like Python, Perl and bash for glue or test purposes.

You will have the opportunity to engage with various technologies and concepts including TCP/IP network, routing, switching and VLAN, proprietary hardware interfaces, software architecture, satellite communication systems and steerable antennas . You will benefit from our framework of source control and configuration, shared code and libraries, build system, code review and defect tracking.

As an Embedded Linux Developer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

• Master or BSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• Proficient in C and C++ programming
• Long term experience with Linux architecture and advanced programming principles
• Hard core knowledge of TCP/IP network, related protocols and concepts
• Comfortable with GNU toolchain, makefiles and shell scripting
• Proponent of safe, secure and robust software design and implementation
• Experience with tools like git, Bugzilla, Jenkins, Google Test, pytest and/or ReviewBoard is a bonus

We expect you to be an experienced software developer who is able to achieve a systematic overview of  complex systems; who shows initiative and is self-motivated as well as a good team player.

The Position
We offer you to join the Global Software Department which is located at our Headquarters in Kgs. Lyngby, Copenhagen and is the largest of our four development sites. Global Software consist of more than 100 software developers organized in dedicated software teams, and this open position is in the Antennas Team which deliver software for steerable satellite antennas and controllers for the maritime and land mobile sectors.
