Do you want to work with technology that improves the quality of life for millions of hearing impaired people worldwide? Do you want to be part of a dynamic team that works with the next generation of wireless streaming devices and accessories for hearing aids? Then you may be the hardware designer, we are looking for.

Widex is expanding its portfolio of wireless connectivity devices. These devices play a significant role in our customer’s daily interaction with their hearing aids. To strengthen the device development, we are looking for a new colleague.

About the job
As Hardware Designer you will have the responsibility for the development of the electronics in next generation connectivity devices. This include conducting feasibility investigations, defining specifications, maturing the solution, choosing components, designing schematics and layout, and finally verifying and debugging the design. You will also be working closely with our out-sourcing partners, who are involved in both development and production of the products, with both specification interpretations, design sparring, and design reviews.

The design of the connectivity devices includes the following disciplines:

  • Design of analogue circuits (e.g. power management, audio).
  • Design of digital circuits (e.g. I2C, I2S, UART, USB).
  • PCB and flex PCB layout.
  • Inductive low power radios.
  • 2.4 GHz Bluetooth low energy radios and antennas.
  • Verification measurements and test.
  • EMC & Safety design towards regulatory requirements.
  • Design control and documentation.

You will ensure that the designed product lives up to not only the standardized requirements to medical devices, but also our own requirements to sound quality and general performance. Some of the typical challenges you may meet as hardware designer are related to the wireless communication to hearing aids and the close integration with the mechanics to optimize the size and usability of the product.

You will be working in a dynamic environment in an interdisciplinary project team, where contributions from many different stakeholders and professions need to align to develop the best possible products for our customers.

As Hardware Designer you are part of the Hardware Development team in Widex, which is responsible for development of all electronics for both hearing aids and accessories in Widex. The Hardware Development team is part of Global Development in Widex.

You should expect up to 10 travel days on a yearly basis.

About you
You have an education as an electronic engineer or similar, and you have practical experience within the following areas:

  • Specification and design of both digital, analogue and RF electronics - preferably including wireless communication and audio.
  • Measurements and verification of electrical performance.
  • Documentation of design and test – preferably within compliance of medical device directive.
  • Driving and supporting out-sourcing partners (preferably in Asia) doing development and/or production.

You are ready to use a PC as well as a soldering iron and an oscilloscope and you have a good sense of the interaction between electronics, mechanics and software. You take responsibility for your tasks, while keeping an overview of not only your own tasks, but also the links to the tasks ongoing in the other disciplines in the project.

As a person you work structured and have a lot of drive to ensure success in the project team. You are a team player, but able to work independently when required, and your oral and written communication skills are excellent.
