Professors, associate professors and tenure track assistant professors in Robotics and Drones

The sections SDU Robotics, SDU UAS Center and SDU Embodied Systems for Robotics and Learning at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Institute at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense jointly invite applications for open positions in fields relevant to robotics and drones, at the levels of full professor, associate professor and tenure track assistant professor.

The candidates will be expected to contribute to one or more of the following fields:

  • Smart production / Industry 4.0
  • Mobile robotics
  • Robots for Healthcare
  • Drones

Candidates are required to have a proven research record in at least one of the following fields:

  • Computer vision
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Autonomous systems
  • Collaborative robots
  • Smart Industrial Automation
  • Human-robot interaction
  • Virtual and augmented reality
  • Mathematical Modeling for Robotic Systems and Processes
  • Software Systems for Robotics or UAVs
  • Mechanical Engineering for Robotics or UAVs
  • Power systems for Robotics or UAVs
  • Control theory for robotics or UAVs
  • Manipulators
  • Embedded electronics
  • Low-power high-speed embedded computing
  • Precision navigation
  • Multi agent systems
  • Sensor fusion

Commensurate with the seniority of the position applied for, the candidates must have:

  • An outstanding research and publication record
  • Extensive experience with industrial collaboration,
  • Strong track record of attracting research funding.

Candidates for full professorships must be internationally recognized for academic leadership.

All candidates must have a Ph.D.

The successful candidate is expected to develop and engage in a vigorous research program, collaborate with other faculty units on joint research projects, and actively participate in attracting external research funding in close collaboration with colleagues and management.

The successful applicants will be expected to provide outstanding education at all university level courses, supervise graduate students and, depending on level, develop junior staff and faculty units.

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute is an international recognized research department that has focused on robotics for more than 3 decades. The department is the origin of robotics research in Denmark, and has spawned the world-class cluster of robotics in Southern Denmark with more than 100 robotics companies that includes Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots. Building on our expertise in robotics, we have in recent years also put the department in the lead of UAS research.

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant may be called for interview.

Employment shall be on the terms specified in the labour market agreement with the opportunity for individual negotiation.
