Through online legal information services, Karnov Group delivers insights and efficiency to more than 30.000 users every day in Denmark and Sweden.
To meet their ambitious goals for 2017 and beyond, this new and key position as Principal Software Engineer is being hired. You will report directly to the Director of Development and be responsible for a team of 5-8 software developers.
Your responsibilities
- Help build and lead the team
- Have a mandate to drive simplification of the systems, reduce complexity and dependency
- Drive choice of technologies and help set standards for tools and workflow - through leading by example
- Build and support platform services used by the rest of the development team
- Provide sparring and quality assurance of own and colleagues code and projects
- Take an active part in Ruby/Rails software development
- With your team you own the overview and understanding of all the systems and services
Furthermore, we would prefer that you have the interest for and experience with putting software and services into production (i.e. Cloud hosting, Docker).
You are also expected to contribute to and take part in architectural decisions as well as the continuous development of the agile processes and knowledge sharing of the entire software department.
The main technologies are: Ruby/Rails, PostgreSQL, Rescue/Redis, Solr, Graph databases Neo4J.
Your profile
You have demonstrated solid results by programming solutions. Experience in leading a team is preferred, and with expectation to be very hands-on. The culture in Karnov Group is characterised by diversity, and there are no specific requirements regarding educational background. You may have an IT education at a higher level, or you may be autodidact.
You have high standards for code, and we expect you to easily manage more than one programming language. Ruby is the predominant language in Karnov Group, but they strive for developing in the language best suitable for solving the problem at hand.
It is important that you have a great drive and are motivated by independent work in a great team. And we want to make sure that you thrive being busy with daily operations where tasks may change frequently. We also expect you to be creative and able to figure out solutions and carry out the work to reach the goals. You are motivated by contributing to the whole development team, and you enjoy collaboration with all lines of business.
You possess excellent communication skills. Fluency in Danish and English is necessary. Proficiency in Swedish is a plus.
