For our Product Development organisation we are looking for a Development Engineer to work with the specific task of designing a window construction that supports a new pane technology. Your challenges
We are in search of an energetic person with the high drive and potential to take up this opportunity where your task will be to understand and develop window concepts that integrate a new pane design in the most optimal way and further through conceptual thinking to look for other opportunities to optimise the use of the pane.

You will be joining a project team of currently 15 dedicated employees working primarily with Research & Development. To reach ambitious results you will be collaborating closely together in the team, with potential external customers, knowledge partners, test and validation institutes and IP specialists.

You will be working both at a conceptual level and be the specialist, who can work in detail with technical drawings and new constructions.

Your tasks will be to:

  • Design new building products, primarily windows using disruptive solutions
  • Analyse new possible constructions in regards to thermal performance and mechanical strength
  • Evaluate existing and emerging products and materials to provide new solutions and for use in window designs
  • Build a good understanding of the functionality and integration of the pane in window designs
  • Assist in updating the project team and reporting progress in the project plan
  • Participate in effectively and progressive ensuring intellectual property rights
  • A certain amount of travelling must be expected - approximately 40-50 days per year.

Your qualifications
We expect that you have a technical background as engineer or similar including some commercial experience. Preferably, you have experience from the window or glass industry, building components, building industry, from product development with designing physical products and/or experience with disruptive development, including design of novel approaches with potential to be patented.

It is important that your technical skills are well proven and that you have experience with thermal and mechanical calculations and simulations as well as experience with new constructions. Furthermore, you are able to combine the calculations and the knowledge of constructions in the design of new products that meet product requirements and customer expectations.

A natural ability for being innovative and creative is ‘a must’ along with strong collaboration skills and the ability to interact and align diverse stakeholders across multiple geographies and business units.

Furthermore, it is essential that you have the willingness to change, that you are result and progress oriented with a “can-do attitude” and not afraid to challenge the existing.

As you will engage with different stakeholders and have close contact with many nationalities across the VELUX organisation, you must be fluent in English both orally and in writing.
