Lead Design Engineer

Job Description
Do you feel motivated by working in a focus area with continuous development and expansion? Would you like to lead R&D project team members in new product development projects from idea to running production/market launch? And are you interested in being part of a global setup? Then we might be looking for you in Danfoss Cooling. You will be part of a small, dedicated team with plenty of interaction and close cooperation with colleagues in other areas.

You will be posted in Nordborg or Kolding, DK and can expect approx. 10 - 20 travelling days per year in Europe, US and Asia.
 
Maintain Danfoss’ leading position as supplier of expansion devices
As Lead Design Engineer, it will be your responsibility to lead RD&E team members in projects with the focus on design to quality, cost, manufacturability and time to market.

You will ensure the designing of expansion valves in accordance with customer requirements from idea to market launch, which you will achieve by understanding customer needs and translating them into technical requirements.

Your key tasks will be:

• Developing and verifying design that meets specifications on functionality, quality and cost
• Leading RDE teams within new product development projects
• Supporting root cause problem solving on product failures
• Design, test and validate prototypes
• Validating design through simulations, test specifications and review of resultsYou will be measured by your ability to keep deadlines, product cost and product quality within the promised range.

Strong communication skills at all levels and authority to be R&D team lead
You have a Masters in Electromechanical, Mechanical engineering or similar. You have several years’ experience within design of mechanical products, and broad experience preferably within refrigeration applications. In addition, you have experience with 3D CAD and preferably project management experience.

You have fluent and comprehensive English skills, both in writing and speech, and you can communicate highly technical information to people with less technical knowledge. On a more personal note, you are a collaborative team player and capable of building professional networks. You lead by example, encouraging your team to compliance regarding procedures and rules. You are innovative, keep an open, positive mind, and your focus is always on quality.
