Your challenges
We are looking for a technology business developer to join a newly established department responsible for establishing and driving external partnerships with the aim of maturing and ultimately industrialising new technologies in VELUX applications.

Your responsibility covers the business side of technology development securing intellectual property and exclusive exploitation rights as well as visualising and selling-in business opportunities to the organisation. You will be supporting projects and developing partnerships ranging from early-stage publicly funded research projects to process and application development of fully-developed technologies. You will match customer needs with product value propositions and present roadmaps to industrialization.

More specifically your main tasks will be to:

  • Identify and secure intellectual property rights in collaboration with internal and external patent experts
  • Build relationships with development partners and negotiate complex joint development contracts
  • Perform customer need analysis and market segmenting in collaboration with our market organisation
  • Design technology roadmaps across multiple market segments including product roadmaps, attributes and service offerings, identify test markets applying a minimum viable product approach
  • Identify innovative technology and product options to develop and exploit market opportunities in collaboration with our market organisation
  • Work closely with the cross-functional product and manufacturing development team to define product objectives, requirements and attribute prioritisation to ensure R&D and manufacturing are working on the right projects with sufficient lead time to meet product launch needs
  • Produce detailed yet concise presentations and memos to decision makers across the organisation

As you will be part of a global organisation, we are looking for a person who is flexible in working hours across time zones and is prepared to travel approx. 50 days per year.

Your qualifications
We expect that you have an engineering degree combined with a business development/innovation management degree at M.Sc. level or equivalent post graduate diploma (e.g. MBA, HD, MMT) including at least five years of experience from a larger global company where you have obtained solid knowledge of corporate culture i.e. stakeholder management, decision-making processes etc.

You have solid experience with business modelling, strategy development, value proposition design, product or technology roadmaps, preferably from a production company. All of which you are used to appropriately combine and make use of to make a compelling business case and subsequently present and sell-in at senior management level. Further, as there will be a need to secure intellectual property rights, experience within this field would be a great advantage.

Strong influential and collaboration skills is ‘a must’ including the ability to interact and align diverse stakeholders across multiple geographies and business units. Furthermore, it is essential that you have the ability to independently build relationships with external partners, drive and close complex negotiations with support from legal counsel and purchasing.

On a personal level, you are self-driven with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who thrives on driving and completing long-term innovation projects. You possess great drive and the desire to move things forward and people describe you as an independent, result-oriented person setting ambitious goals for yourself and others.

Since you will be producing executive memos and PowerPoint presentations, excellent presentation skills verbally, graphically and in text is necessary. This means that you have to be fluent in English and preferably in Danish both orally and in writing.
