Mechanical engineer for development of plastics decoration processes

  • Engineering
  • Denmark - Hillerød

Do you enjoy developing new processes and equipment with all the collaboration and discoveries that goes with it? Are you ready to take on the responsibility for driving a major development project all the way to production? Would you enjoy going to work every day knowing that your results make a difference? Then join us and be part of something big this rarely offered position will provide you with excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.

About the department
You will be joining 40 dedicated colleagues in the Device Manufacturing Development Department in Hillerød. We develop and introduce the equipment and processes that transform great designs into actual products, bridging the gap between development departments and the production lines.

The dosage pen systems that are a big part of the success we enjoy are always under further development. We strive to ensure they meet and exceed the expectations of a growing and demanding market.

We design all the equipment necessary to perform all the processes involved in the manufacturing of the dosage systems. Right now, one of our projects concerns decorative parts of these systems, and this is where we need you. Specifically, we want you to be the driving force in the development of the best possible decoration systems with integrated visual inspection for the production lines.

You will be working with experts in the field of plastics manufacturing processes and raw materials, as well as with technicians, operators and process supporters. We enjoy sharing our knowledge, and we are eager to get to know you and learn from you. If you appreciate collaboration in a creative and ambitious environment, you will feel at home with us.

The position
As our new colleague, you will be responsible for developing robust and cost effective manufacturing processes. Specifically, you will head a project that aims to define new printing processes for a critical part in our pen dosage system, including the systems that are needed to perform quality controls by automated visual inspections in the production line. You will review the design of new plastic parts, test and challenge specifications, choose and implement the right technologies for the job, and define tasks to external suppliers.

Because of the nature of the product, everything we do must adhere to a well defined set of regulations and quality standards. New processes and equipment must be qualified and validated to ensure they are in compliance with these standards. Thus, you will be defining validation strategies for the new setup, and ensure that materials, processes and equipment can perform at the desired level of quality and capacity. Mapping out the risk landscape of the processes will be crucial to the timely preparation of risk management systems and quality control measures which you will also be in charge of.

This position offers a high level of collaboration across the organisation. Technicians and process supporters in the production lines will get you a hands on angle on your project, IT will provide interface solutions, and from our colleagues in Quality Assurance you will get all the support you need to meet regulative standards in your results just to name a few of the many places where your face will quickly become familiar.

You will also be part of the global support of Novo Nordisk manufacturing lines. This means that your experience and knowledge will benefit colleagues in our sites all over the world, and that you can count of a large support network of experienced experts when solving the challenges of your new job. Together, you will be identifying root causes to unexpected events or deviations from specifications, provide solutions to the issues and implement relevant preventive measures.

Qualifications
You hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, and you have at least a few years of experience with the development of automation and plastics decoration processes ideally with printing or laser marking. We hope that you already know your way around the many requirements within regulated production setups, but if not, you will receive relevant and adequate training. Perhaps you have been with an equipment manufacturer for some time, as a mechanical designer or working with customers’ processes and vision inspection equipment. Or maybe your background is relevant in other ways.

Your skills in statistics and process optimisation methods allow you to draw solid conclusions from data. Your outgoing personality and your communication style makes it easy for you to establish trustful relations across a diverse organisation, where many people have backgrounds very different from yours. You are great at engaging and managing stakeholders, and your direction setting initiative is rivaled only by your ability to follow through and your keen appreciation of quality. You enjoy sharing your knowledge, providing support for your colleagues when they need it.

Because you will be working with international business partners, it is a requirement that you are technically proficient in English, in speech as well as in writing. If you understand Danish, your job will probably be easier, but it is not a requirement.
