Technical Project Manager for market development of offshore wind operations

Would you like to play a central role in the further development and optimisation of one of Denmark’s leading offshore wind power organisations?

Join us and become Technical Project Manager in our Technical Development team, where you and your colleagues will carry out a cross-portfolio function which delivers technology development for the Wind Power Operations’ business area. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for managing and delivering technical and operational assessment of the conditions in new geographical markets. You will define the preferred operational setup in these markets, and identify the need for development of new technical solutions enabling an efficient operation. We create business impact through yield improvement, cost reduction, improved HSE and enabling of operation in new conditions.

Technical Development is part of Wind Power which has 1800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at one of our Danish offices in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia or alternatively at our London office in the United Kingdom on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect travelling in relation to your work.

Your key tasks will be to

  • deliver technical market intelligence
  • provide insight through market screening of 3rd party service providers, potential strategic partnerships, market maturity and mechanisms
  • provide supply chain analysis and maturation
  • understand the market specific regulation and practises impacting the operational setup
  • provide information on cost levels for business case preparation
  • recommend operational setup in new markets
  • identify gaps in current operational concepts and technologies and initiate projects to bridge these gaps
  • engage in the implementation of the operational setup in new markets and ensure handover to the line organisation.

You will be assigned ownership of the market intelligence work focusing on the technical aspects of operating offshore wind farms. In this role, you will be involved in defining the project scope and be responsible for delivering the activities on time and within the approved budgets.

You will be part of our new markets team consisting of commercial, operational, technical and regulatory resources. You will report into the new markets program to which you will bring forward major decision points and report on progression on a regular basis. You will work with internal and external stakeholders across many functional areas, including technology, procurement, legal, IT and commercial. You will have exposure to senior management and key decision makers.

Your qualifications and core competences include that you

  • hold a master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, science or similar, combined with demonstrable and relevant project management and commercial experience and insight
  • have a flair for building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders across business areas
  • have a profound interest in understanding both the specifics within asset operations and the commercial decisions needed to secure technical development, market development and value creation
  • have extensive project management experience and demonstrated expertise within the offshore wind industry
  • have knowledge of Excel and Power Point
  • have good communication skills, enabling you to convey your knowledge to your business partners in a professional way
  • speak and write English fluently.

Furthermore, you will be able to create results through teamwork, and at the same time you will have a structured and result-oriented approach to your work and be prepared to work intensely during busy periods.

It will be most advantageous if you have relevant job experience, such as experience from the utility or heavy asset industry, such as a wind power sub-supplier, or from technical consultancy or other industries with an engineering focus. Moreover, you will have a strong track record of managing complex technical projects and relationships within a large multi-national organisation, including direct engagement with senior decision makers.

We offer
A challenging role in a professional environment with competent and dedicated colleagues, all working to improve our results and maintain our position as world leader within offshore wind. You will be joining a dynamic department with eight committed colleagues working in teams to ensure best-in-class deliverables to our stakeholders, including executive management and external investors.

In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
