A post-doctoral researcher position (2 years) is available at the Section of Engineering Design and Product Development, within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark. The position is created in connection with the project “Circular Economy Integration in the Nordic Industry for enhanced sustainability and competitiveness (CIRCit)”.

The CIRCit project is supported by the Nordic Green Growth Programme and is running in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), SWEREA (Sweden), Innovation Center Iceland and Confederation of Technology Industry in Finland. The post-doctoral researcher will work closely with the consortium partners and industrial stakeholders. 

Responsibilities and tasks 
The main responsibility of this appointment is to support and promote cross-sectorial collaboration and networking among the companies involved in the project, within and across the Nordic countries, in order to create environments and platforms where knowledge and best practices can be exchanged during and after the project and where opportunities for cooperation and collaboration can be identified and explored.  

Strong collaboration with the other partners in the consortium is expected for the development, validation and implementation of the work packages. More than 200 Nordic companies are expected to be engaged in the project activities. Workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions and sharing of success stories will be carried out in a continuous manner throughout the project, in order to support the engaged companies and other interested companies in their journeys towards Circular Economy. Furthermore, this position should aim at promoting collaborative innovation within the value chains and engaging policy makers in constructing and promoting Circular Economy. 

The candidate will publish his/her research results in international peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences and seminars. 

Qualifications
The applicant should be highly motivated and hold a PhD degree, preferably within Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related areas. Good command of Circular Economy, written and spoken English, and experience with sustainability are required. 

Further qualifications: 

  • Candidate must have experience in collaboration with large and small manufacturing companies and research organisations.
  • Candidate must have knowledge in at least two of the following five fields: supply chain management, sustainable design, business model innovation, product development, sustainability assessment.
  • Excellent early achievement track-record (publications, awards, conference presentations, etc.)
  • Strong work ethics and motivation to succeed within a competitive research field
  • Team spirit and excellent collaboration skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years, with possibility for extension.
