Senior Project Manager for electrical systems for offshore wind farms

Would you like to lead the development and execution of electrical system projects for our offshore wind farms? 

Join us and become a Senior Project Manager in the Electrical Project Management team which is responsible for the development and construction of electrical systems for offshore wind projects. As Senior Project Manager, you may be responsible for either the delivery of the electrical systems that connect an asset project for our offshore wind farm to the transmission grid, or you will be responsible for the development and procurement of standardised concepts which will support our strategy for reducing asset lifetime costs and may form part of future asset projects. Electrical Project Management consists of 30 project managers located in London, Hamburg and Copenhagen, and we provide leadership and manage the teams responsible for electrical engineering, procurement and construction of electrical works, related to the offshore wind farms. 

Electrical Project Management is part of Wind Power, which has 1800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe, and we are expanding with international activities in the US and Asia-Pacific. 

You may choose freely to based either at our Danish office in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or alternatively at our London office in the United Kingdom on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. 

Your key tasks will be to 

  • lead a team of engineers and managers, who are responsible for system design, submarine and land cable supply and installation, transformers and HV/MV components, protection and control 
  • lead the management of project programme, -scope, -cost, -quality and a wide range of risks across the entire project lifecycle in a multi-contract environment 
  • lead the preparation and delivery of project gate- and project management documentation, such as project scope, costs, risks and interfaces 
  • coordinate with project peers and manage interfaces, inside- and across packages 
  • manage external stakeholders, such as transmission owners and local authorities 
  • act as a strong health and safety ambassador and continuously reduce risks and improve safety performance. 

Furthermore, you will contribute to the strategic and operational development of the Electrical Project Management function. 

Your qualifications and core competences include that you 

  • hold a master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar 
  • are a highly experienced project manager with extensive years of experience. As we use PMI/PMBOK as project management framework, a PMP certification or similar training and certification is preferred 
  • have extensive relevant work experience, leading a large team on technical complex and high value construction projects 
  • have exceptional leadership- communication-, and negotiation skills and a high level of commercial understanding 
  • are able to prioritise and execute your tasks in order to meet deadlines 
  • have a demonstrable capability to lead a team during the design and manufacturing phases, including those reporting via deputy managers (leading leaders) of internal staff (either FTE or contractor) in excess of 10 persons 
  • have a demonstrable capability to lead a team during the installation and commissioning phases, including those reporting via deputy electrical project managers of internal staff (either FTE or contractor) in excess of 20 persons. 

Furthermore, you are prepared to work intensely during busy periods. You have a profound interest in green energy and working in a rapidly developing industry. Moreover, you have good interpersonal skills, and thrive on working in a dynamic environment with many stakeholders and contacts across the organisation. 

As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently.
