The Software Engineering Section and the Center for Energy Informatics at the Maersk McKinney Møller Institute jointly invites applications for open positions in Software Engineering, at the levels of assistant professor and associate professor. Starting date is June 1, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
 
We seek energetic and dynamic candidates who will be able to contribute to, extend and complement the ongoing research and teaching activities in the broad area of Software Engineering related disciplines.

Candidates are required to have a proven research record in at least one of the following fields:

  • Agent-based systems
  • Cloud computing
  • Component-based development
  • Cyber security
  • Date Engineering and visualization
  • Distributed computing 
  • Embedded software and system engineering
  • Methods for sensor data validation and correction
  • Middleware systems
  • Modelling of software systems
  • Software development processes
  • Software testing and quality assurance
  • Stream based processing
  • System integration

The preferred candidates have experience within the following fields:

  • Cyber-physical systems
  • Drones
  • Energy informatics
  • Health informatics
  • Robotics

in addition to experience with one or more of the above fields the candidate is also expected to have some experience with:

  • Industrial collaboration
  • Participation in industrial research projects
  • Participation in open source projects
  • Deployment and field test of software systems

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science, with a research and publication record matching the applied position.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain an ongoing vigorous research program, collaborate with existing Faculty groups on joined research projects, and actively participate in attracting external research funding in close collaboration with collogues and management.

The successful applicants will be expected to participate in the normal administrative, educational and professional activities of the Institute, Faculty and University.

Teaching duties will include undergraduate courses in Software Engineering and supervising of student projects at all levels.

The Software Engineering Section and Centre for Smart Energy Solutions is part of the Maersk McKinney Møller Institute, one of four Departments of the Faculty of Engineering at University of Southern Denmark.

University of Southern Denmark is a prominent, research-intensive academic institution situated in Odense, Denmark’s fourth largest city with a population of approximately 190,000.

An assistant professorship is a 3-year position. Employment stops automatically by the end of the period.

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview may be applied.

Appointment to the positions will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
