The National Food Institute (DTU Food) offers a position as senior researcher in Nutrition and Epidemiology.
You will be part of the research group on risk-benefit in the Division of Diet, Disease Prevention & Toxicology. The research group is focused on quantitative health assessment of foods and diets and its primary aims are to develop new and improved ways of performing risk-benefit assessments, to estimate burden of food associated diseases and to rank risks and benefits of food.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • To quantify risks, benefits and health impact of foods and food-associated diseases based on multiple data sources, including surveillance data, health registers and epidemiological data
  • To be responsible for teaching activities, and guidance and supervision of assistant professors, researchers, and students
  • To estimate population health burden associated to nutritional risk factors with a focus on disease prevention

You will work in a dynamic research group together with researchers having competencies within nutrition, toxicology, microbiology, epidemiology, and data modelling.  You will together with the researchers in the group take a major part in the planning of future research projects and writing of grant applications. The work will involve international and national collaboration with other scientists and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications
Candidates must

  • hold a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc.

The candidate will have a solid and documented background in nutrition and epidemiology.  Experience with supervision and teaching within nutrition or epidemiology is highly preferred. Specific consideration will be given to the ability to work with large data sets and statistical skills.

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:

  • scientific production and research potential at international level
  • innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
  • experience in teaching and education
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The workplace will be at the new Life Science & Bioengineering building specifically designed to accommodate and facilitate our activities. The building is located at the DTU main campus in Kgs. Lyngby at the outskirt of Copenhagen.
