R&D Director

You inspire and develop both the business and the people around you
Reporting to the head of HPP, you will be part of the leadership team. You will bring your specialised knowledge in mechanical design, tribology and fluid dynamics, but also an obvious desire to contribute to the overall leadership and management of the entire department. Your personal responsibility will be R&D and technology activities as you will perform the strategic and operational management of the technology team and product development projects, in close cooperation with other HPP functions. Your key tasks will be to: 

• Participate in creating the overall HPP business model and strategy, based on the Core & Clear strategy
• Ensure that your own activities are coordinated cross-functionally, and actively cooperate in other cross-functional activities
• Actively support the development and execution of HPP product area strategies, and contribute to the innovation of the business development processes
• Generate new products, equipment and systems by following established procedures and guidelines, and conduct research in order to improve technical levels
• Select high-performing team members and build the team by creating a high level of team spirit and engagement
• Continuously coach and develop direct reports and ensure that they have a clear understanding of their performance level 

Your responsibility will cover application of material and technology insight in product development as well as effective implementation with internal and outsourced resources, and you need to be able to leverage resources and competence in a matrix organisation. Your success will also be measured by your ability to ensure both support to customer requirements and a proper relationship with HPP supply chain, product management, sales and business development as well as external partners such as universities and other knowledge centres. You have a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and additional education in business and people management. You have several years of relevant experience, incl. pump/hydraulic technology and application knowledge. Your working experience covers product and technology development as well as change management skills.

You have an open mind, bridging across both cultural and functional differences.
