DTU Management Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Assistant or Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. 

The new assistant/associate professor will be affiliated to the Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) group within the department’s Technology and Innovation Management division. The group is responsible for the division’s research, teaching and extracurricular activities in entrepreneurship and innovation management. The group is currently staffed with approx. 23 persons: 1 professor, 5 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 4 PostDoc and a number of PhD-students. The IDE group plays a pivotal role of research and education in entrepreneurship, design innovation and innovation management within the entire DTU eco-system.

Responsibilities and tasks
With this position the department wants to strengthen its capabilities in research, teaching and extracurricular activities within technology-based entrepreneurship. We are seeking candidates, who are committed to high quality research that will impact the field, and who can interact effectively with scholarly and industry peers to enhance the intellectual climate of the division.

The assistant/associate professor is expected to take a leading position in research-based teaching (with associated examination commitments) at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. Contributions to the university’s executive programs are welcomed. A general task is to increase entrepreneurship awareness and spread the approach of entrepreneurship as a mind-set among students. 

The assistant/associate professor is expected to take a leading role in collaboration with external stakeholders and contribute to the wider knowledge exchange with society at large. This also includes collaboration with internal stakeholders in DTU’s innovation, entrepreneurship and business development eco-system.

For an associate professor this position includes a leading role in developing and leading new research and establishing new alliances, developing applications for external funding, and exchanging knowledge with society, including participation in the public debate. Supervising and supporting doctoral students and early career team members will also be a central task.
 
Qualifications
Candidates for an

  • Assistant Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent)
  • Associate Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship and should document didactic/pedagogic training.  

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • experience in teaching and education
  • scientific production and research potential at an international level
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

For the associate professor position consideration will be given to documented experience in one or more of the following topics 

  • Academic & technology-based entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • University-industry technology transfer and collaborations
  • Entrepreneurial processes and eco-systems
  • Designers as entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs as designers 
  • Entrepreneurial Finance 

Alternatively, consideration is given applicants with documented experiences in the wider academic field of innovation management combined with interests and potentials in one of the above-mentioned topics.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position as associate professor and assistant professor is permanent. The assistant professor will after a maximum of 4 years transfer to a position as associate professor provided that the employee is recommended for assessment and is deemed qualified.
