DTU Nutech, Hevesy Laboratory, Section for Medical Isotopes, invites applications for a Senior Research Scientist position. The position is available immediately.

The Hevesy Laboratory Division forms part of the Center for Nuclear Technologies (DTU Nutech) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The division presently consists of 40 people including researchers, technicians and PhD students with 11 employees in the Section for Medical Isotopes. The main focus at the Hevesy Laboratory is the development of new methodologies within radiochemistry, radionuclide production and radiobiology, with the ultimate aim of developing new radiopharmaceuticals, both as diagnostics and therapeutics. The division comprises a GMP production unit as well as independent research Groups.

The position
We offer a position where you will join the division as Senior Research Scientist within radiochemical development. You are expected to have broad research experience and knowledge within the preparation of radiotracers, both within small molecules, peptides, proteins and nanoparticles. You will be involved in national as well as international projects and are expected to participate in the development of new projects, the writing of grant applications and supervision of PhD students. You are expected to generate your own project ideas, acquire external funding, and eventually lead your own group in close collaboration with other researchers at the Hevesy Laboratory. We are a highly multidisciplinary team conducting broad-scope projects, so you will be expected to excel in team work, communication and interdisciplinary understanding.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree in radiochemistry or equivalent, with emphasis on the development of new radiotracers for medical use, as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc. The candidate should hold a MSc degree within organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry or similar.

In addition, the candidate is expected to have:

  • Several years of experience with radiochemistry at researcher/post.doc. level
  • Documented knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Documented knowledge of radiometal chemistry
  • Documented knowledge of radiotracer development and preclinical/clinical use

  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

In addition for this position consideration will be given to:

  • documented ability to conduct and publish high-impact research
  • experience with supervision of PhD students
  • documented ability to attract Funding
  • experience with GMP production of radiopharmaceuticals
  • international research experience
  • personal international network (academic and corporate)
  • experience with radiolabeling peptides, proteins, small molecules and nanoparticles
  • experience with medium to long-lived radionuclides relevant in preclinical/clinical imaging and therapy (especially 18F, iodine, 64Cu, 89Zr, 177Lu).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
