Can you help us develop the biggest offshore wind turbine seen to date?
 
At Siemens Wind Power we have set an ambitious goal. In 2017 we want to develop and test the next generation of offshore wind turbines. For this task we need the brightest engineering minds to join us so that we together can set the new Global standard for wind energy.

For our next generation offshore turbine platform, located in Vejle - Denmark, we are looking for bright Structural Design Engineers to further enrich the Teams Tower, Generator, Nacelle and Hub. The Teams, which consists of highly skilled and dedicated employees, are driving the development of new concepts for both primary and secondary steel structures.

 
What are my responsibilities?
As a Structural Design Engineer you will be responsible for the detailed design of a defined area of technology or a defined sub system within the tower, generator, nacelle or hub. The detailed design includes calculations, documentation and certification and you will be responsible for supplying specific areas of technology into the complete delivery of the module. You will be responsible for ensuring that relevant guidelines and design basis are followed and a large part of your responsibility can, depending on area of technology, require your expertise for review, support and coordination with external service provides more than actual design tasks. Both analytical and numerical calculations are of relevance and it is important that you are able to judge whether or not the one of them is needed. In addition, experience with dynamics investigations is important.

Your assignments will include the following:

  • Structural Calculations of steel and aluminium structures according to Eurocode, DNV-GL guidelines and internal guidelines etc.
  • Detailed FEAs
  • Dynamic investigations
  • Fatigue calculations
  • Input for tests
  • Make sure that needed updates will be implemented in design basis and design tools
  • Deliver certification packages
  • Optimization of design
  • Design support and coordination with external service providers

 
What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • As a person you are outgoing, proactive and enthusiastic
  • You master design according to Eurocode and common guidelines
  • You master the use of Ansys
  • You are structured, innovative, and accommodating to challenges
  • You possess the ability to work both independently and in teams. In addition, your approach to task solving is both analytical and practical
  • You have good communication and English skills, both orally and in writing

 
In case you have acquired your skills in alternative ways your application is just as well appreciated.
