Treatment Specialists for Siemens Wind Power

The Operational Engineering teams delivers all relevant Engineering competences to support sourcing of components, manufacturing and service of our onshore and offshore wind turbines. In parallel we monitor and proactively work on improving the performance of our turbines as well as internal handling of warranty cases. The teams have the overall technical responsibility for the specification of requirements to the manufacturers of welded structures, flattened steel plates, surface treatment etc.

We are now looking for experienced Surface Treatment Specialists to be working with clarification of requirements and specifications of paint systems for both new and existing products. A big part of the job is to be technical responsible in connection with developing and introducing new suppliers and product updating. You will also be the technical partner providing feedback for other departments internally as well as to external stakeholders. Thus you are expected to build and benefit from an extensive network internally in Siemens Wind Power but also externally with suppliers and customers.

In this role, you will be part of our R&D department (Technology) that forms the core of our technological leadership, and building values like excellence, innovation and responsibility. The Technology department in Denmark currently employs approximately 800 people.

A limited amount of travelling to external partners should be expected in these positions.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Overall technical responsibility for specifying paint systems
  • Ensuring accordance between paint systems, production standards and guidelines
  • Specification of technical requirements to existing and future paint systems for steel components
  • Guidance of our own engineers for the purpose of questions and instructions within surface treatment
  • Handling Non Conformance Reports (NCR) from vendors and production
  • Minimizing NCR by education and training others
  • Coordination of task with internal design office in India
  • Technical feed back to customers and suppliers
  • Evaluation of new suppliers capacity and ability to deliver according to production standard and ensuring other Siemens departments have an updated knowledge about this

One of the profiles we are looking for will be working more operationally on different NCR solving the individual operational problem and doing a deep dive into specific topics. Thus there will be short time from problem identification to successful implementation meaning a fast learning cycle and feedback on your own contribution. The other profile we are looking for is mainly to work on developing surface treatment systems and working very detailed on standards and develop documentation.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • You have an educational background as BEng or MEng within Chemical Engineering or similar combined with some years experience within surface treatment incl. paint systems for steel constructions based on EN12944 as well as practical experience with shot blasting and painting
  • Preferably you have some years of practical experience working as a paint specialist in a design environment
  • Experience from the wind power industry is not a requirement but considered a strong advantage as well as experience from oil & gas, shipbuilding, aerospace, automotives etc. or from a company supplying surface treatments to the above mentioned industries.  
  • You are possibly certified acc. to NACE or FROSIO

  • We expect you to have a proactive and structured approach in managing your daily tasks
  • Capable of handling many support oriented tasks working across different departments in a large international organization
  • You thrive in a dynamic and fast pasted work environment dealing with many different stakeholders internally as well as externally
  • You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and are fluent in English skills both orally and in writing
