Chemometrician - Development Engineer for Application Development

Do you want to develop your skills in a highly specialised team in FOSS R&D?

FOSS is known throughout the world for innovative analytical instruments that help to improve both food quality and safety in the global food market. FOSS R&D is now looking for a new employee for a challenging position in our dedicated Chemometric Development Team, Data & Algorithms (DnA). Linking chemometric data analysis with instrument software, hardware and application is the DNA of FOSS. This position is a unique opportunity to develop your professional skills within spectroscopy in a highly specialised team and help make a difference in food quality and safety.

The job
Your responsibility will be to plan together with Sales & Marketing and Customer & Sales Support and develop calibrations for all our different instruments across technologies and platforms. Based in Data & Algorithms (DnA), you will be working closely with senior chemometricians and play a central role in the development of prediction models for new applications as well as in maintenance of the existing model portfolio. You will be working in the interface between comprehensive databases, modelling tools and massive expert knowledge about the field of the individual applications in close collaboration with our colleagues in R&D.

Your primary tasks will be:

  • Chemometric application development and maintenance
  • Data analysis/chemometrics in multidisciplinary development projects involving internal and external partners
  • Data analytical troubleshooting in advanced customer and production support tasks
  • Ad hoc chemometric tasks

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in engineering or related area (analytical chemistry, informatics, signal processing, food science etc.)
  • Familiar with the following techniques: Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Strong knowledge of food analysis and spectroscopic methods, like IR, NIR and X-ray.
  • Good English skills
