DTU Wind Energy at the Technical University of Denmark has a vacancy in the "Aerodynamic Design Section" at DTU Risø Campus.

Aerodynamic Design
The section (AER) focuses on aerodynamic and aero-acoustic modeling and experimental research for airfoil and blade design and optimization and implements the research in cooperation with industry, in software tools and in courses.

The research includes CFD and fluid-structure coupling for Aeroelastic design of wind turbines in wind farms including effects from wakes and terrain, experimental investigations in wind tunnels and full-scale and aerodynamic noise modelling.

Responsibilities and tasks
Your work focuses on aero-acoustic modelling and experimental methods. An important activity will be the development of an aero acoustic wind tunnel facility and aerodynamic and acoustic measurement techniques. You will plan and conduct aero-acoustic wind tunnel experiments and in addition field experiments on wind turbines. Further to this you will develop aero-acoustic prediction models and perform CFD computations as part of the prediction models. Another part of your work is the development of smart rotors with innovative blade designs like deformable trailing edge flaps and testing them in the field.

You will participate in a number of national and international research projects and contribute to the management and generation of new projects. There are also good opportunities for developing innovative ideas in the direction of commercial products.

The research aims at implementation in the industry in both short and long term, and is performed in collaboration with the industry, as well as other Danish and foreign research institutions.

The research will be in collaboration with other sections within the department and with other departments within DTU.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc.

Candidates must have extensive qualifications within theoretical aero-acoustics and wind tunnel and field measurements are required.

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:

  • scientific production and research potential at international level
  • innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

For the specific position consideration will also be given to the candidate’s ability to contribute to

  • the aero-acoustics design of a wind tunnel and afterwards perform high quality measurements and analysis.

We offer
DTU offers an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility. DTU is a leading technical university in northern Europe and benchmarks with the best universities in the world.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is permanent.

The place of work is Risø Campus in Roskilde
