The Offshore Technology Generator Analysis team is looking for a new Structural Lead. You will join our two existing structural leads in leading the team from a technical perspective. You will work closely with the project customers, advising them about possibilities and providing the link to the structural analysis team members on all technical and solution aspects. You will also be responsible for the structural analysis methods used (both analytical and numerical) and drive method development for the module, in line with other module leads ensuring reliable and efficient methods are available and used throughout Siemens Gamesa. You seek the best technical solution, which is “fit for purpose” and satisfying all project requirements, including unit cost, production, reliability, service, and disposal.

How to contribute to our vision
In this position you will support and advise the project representatives (e.g. Module PM, chief engineer) which activities are needed to achieve their goals (e.g. certification, cost-out) and support them in their time planning.  You will also guide and lead the structural analysis team in the technical aspects of the tasks, i.e. explaining the context, deciding on methods and type of analysis to use, supporting decision about the extent of the analysis.

Furthermore, you will define the extent of documentation for a task, on the basis of knowledge retention and knowledge sharing aspects, ensure the technical soundness of results and develop with the analysis team new technical solutions in support of the project needs, as well as align on methods with all other structural leads.

You will also be responsible for supporting the team lead in identifying development needs and opportunities for team members, defining quality measures for deliverables and building up technical competence within the structural analysis team, as well as decide which team members to put on a task in collaboration with the team lead and technical project manager.

What you need to make a difference

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, structural engineering or similar
  • Several years’ experience in structural analysis, preferably in the generator module
  • Very good understanding of all relevant structural analysis methods
  • Experienced in using FEA tools, preferably ANSYS
  • Very good knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines (e.g. IEC 61400 and Eurocode)
  • In-depth knowledge about the technical requirements and the structural loading of components in the generator module
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Structured approach to tasks, innovative and welcoming of challenges
