Engineering support to new and existing innovative projects

You will be part of the Technology and Innovation department in the Engineering and Construction business unit. You will be joining a growing team of currently 19 dedicated employees with a broad professional expertise in electrical, mechanical and construction technology as well as project management. We are highly client-oriented and provide engineering services to the rest of Energinet with focus on the design, operation, and maintenance of different gas systems.

In the role of technical specialist, you will be responsible for leading different green-gases technical activities from initiation to completion and project handover.  This is a matter of highly interdisciplinary coordination (including technology, regulations, environment, innovation etc.) and therefore, you should expect to work in close collaboration with experts from other parts of the organization as well as other national and international partners.

You are part of several project groups and dynamic teams - either as a specialist or in a coordinating role together with the project management. Here you help to ensure the professional level of the project and to make decisions based on qualified knowledge and data. Together with our sister companies we advise on the future trajectory to be followed for the conversion of the existing infrastructure towards carbon neutrality.

Your core task is to provide engineering support both in relation to new and existing innovative projects, with special focus on hydrogen. At the same time, you will also have to act as project manager or package manager on smaller or larger projects. You follow the work tasks from idea to design/operation and implementation, and you contribute to advisory services linked to the equipment specification, installation of critical equipment, preparation of technical reports and proposals related to engineering projects. Depending on your profile, you will work with a number of technical activity areas from the following list:

  • Provide technical consultation or direction related to the development or operation/maintenance of green gas systems.
  • Define equipment specifications towards the selection of green gas technology (e.g. compressors, piping).
  • Advise on feasibility considerations for the conversion of existing natural gas infrastructure to the use of green gases.
  • Recommend or implement changes to gas systems designs with an eye on systems’ optimization.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the knowledge in new technologies developed in the projects is anchored in our company and you will support the expansion of the internal competences in the design and operation of green gases systems (including biogas, CO2 and hydrogen).Travel activity to Energinet's offices and facilities, e.g. in Fredericia and Egtved can be expected, just as travel abroad in connection with international work can also occur.

Engineer with first handed experience with green gases processing

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who want to leave a footprint in the path towards a greener society. It is a requirement that you have an engineering education with at least 5 years of documented experience in working first handed with green gases processing from relevant industries within the chemical, oil & gas, or energy sectors. In particular, the ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in design and/or operation activities for at least one of the following green gases: biogas, CO2 and hydrogen. Experience in Power-to-X technology is considered a plus.

In addition, practical experience in design and/or operation within the following technical areas is desired:

  • Green gas design standards and codes.
  • Hydrogen refueling or storage.
  • Methanation, CO2 capture technology, green gas process technology (e.g. compressors)

Curiosity and motivation to learn and develop knowledge within relevant gas topics that you are not familiar with are also of key importance.

As a person, you are cooperative, goal-oriented, responsible, quality-conscious and professional and able to communicate effectively with different project stakeholders (e.g. suppliers, technicians, authorities) when this is needed. Your positive and engaging attitude helps maintain a positive and healthy work culture.

Fluency in English both speaking and writing is a must, and fluency in Danish both speaking and writing is highly recommended.
