Student IT Support wanted for DieselHouse Museum

DieselHouse is a museum in Sydhavn dedicated to diesel engines, following the legacy of Burmeister & Wain, the first manufacturer of marine diesel engines. The main attraction is a 16 meters high engine, which is started for the public twice a month.

Not everything in this museum is old though, thus we need a student passionate about IT to manage the computer systems. So if you like the smell of engine oil and computers, this one is for you!

The job
Your main responsibilities are to maintain current computer systems (20+ Raspberry Pi, and 10+ PCs), as well as the LAN internet connections, and to collaborate with your colleagues in developing new ideas for a better museum experience for the guests. This can range from simple tasks like changing a wallpaper to making a web based dynamic calendar.

Qualifications
Your imagination is the limit. For a great working experience, you are expected to tick the following boxes:

  • Familiar with Raspberry Pi & Linux scripting
  • Basic Python programing
  • Basic Web scripting(HTML5, node.js)
  • Basic iOS
  • Familiar with 3D print/scan
  • Familiar with VR (Oculus)
  • Basic networking knowledge
  • A great love for computers
  • Be a student for at least one more year

We know that you might not be an expert in all of the above, but if the red one describes you, we are confident that you will embrace the challenge to develop and improve new skills.

To make sure you will not skip (too many) classes, you have the opportunity to make your own schedule, as long as you work for an agreed amount of hours (usually 10-20/week).

Application and contact
It would be great if you could start as soon as possible. If you have any questions, send me an email at: daniel.nielsen@man-es.com
