In this challenging position, you will be an active contributor to Ambu’s success within our endoscope’s development. We want to continue to be the world leader in developing and manufacturing single use cameras for medical endoscopes.

To do that we have established a dedicated cross discipline team to develop the future camera technologies to be used within single use endoscope. You will be working with realizing new miniature cameras on the cutting edge of what is possible.
To do that we have to be champions of technologies while collaborating with several partners inside and outside the company. We have to integrate several different science disciplines into our solutions and act as knowledge aggregators and distributers within the company while pursuing the innovation opportunities ahead.  

You will report directly to the Director of Technology Research and Image Processing. and join the team that consists of thirteen highly skilled colleagues.
You will be part of a dynamic innovation culture characterized by a strong team spirit. Our Global Innovation team consists of over 250 people located in Denmark, Germany, US, Malaysia and China. 

Develop new mechanical technology and solutions for miniature cameras
Your role will be to work on advanced optical technology development for Ambu’s portfolio of single use devices.

Your main responsibilities are

  • Develop, design and engineer new mechanical solution for miniature camera.
  • To lead technology development tasks at external partners towards tangible solutions that can be used in the later product development projects.
  • Lead the integration of technologies into product development.
  • Identify user needs of new application areas and translate them into tangible solutions. 
  • Make concepts/solution into tangible prototypes for test and documentation. 
  • Provide mechanical assistance to the product development teams during the development phases 
  • Interact and collaborate with both external and intern partners in a trusting and open manner.

Your contact base will be broad, and you will interface with Ambu’s global organisation, all departments involved in product development projects and externally with users, knowledge centers and suppliers.

Mechanical engineering with experience with product development of medical devices 
Ideally, you hold an educational background within mechanical engineering or similar and have worked with leading development tasks. You thrive on developing, designing and engineering new mechanical solutions for miniature cameras. You have an intuitive understanding of how to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. You have at least 5 years’ experience developing medical devices, and you have deep understanding of mechanical design. You are able to translate user-needs into mechanical solutions and you have solid experience with plastic and mechanical construction. You work well in the early part of development where exploration is dominant, and uncertainty is high and thrive in acquiring new knowledge.

As a person you are self-motivated, committed and have a strong sense of responsibility towards your work. You are thorough and detail-oriented but at the same time you have great interpersonal skills and have a sense of the situation, which makes you thrive in global teams. 

Since we are a global company, you will be involved in cross-cultural collaboration and you will join an international team. Consequently, it is a requirement that you are fluent in English and that you are able to communicate efficiently. Lastly, you thrive in a position that gives you the opportunity to travel approximately 20 days a year.
