Do you have experience in developing medical devices or do you want to develop medical devices that make a huge difference in people’s lives? Do you want to be a part of all phases in product development? Are you able to work closely with internal and external partners to optimize our current product portfolio within our anesthesiology area? Then your new career could be with Ambu as Senior R&D Engineer.

Since 1937, Ambu has developed, manufactured and sold medical devices. Today, millions of patients and healthcare professionals depend on the functionality and performance of Ambu’s products worldwide.

In this newly established and challenging position, you will be an active contributor in the innovation team and participate in securing the future success of Ambu in the interest of our users.

You will be part of an effective innovation culture with a tradition for fast completion of projects, which means that there will be a visible link between your results and Ambu’s growth. You will be a member of the Core Product Innovation team that focuses on products within Anesthesia, Neurology, Cardiology as well as Emergency Care & Training. Your focus will be on products within the area of Anesthesiology. The Core product Innovation team is a new team, so you will also be part of building up the team. Your workplace will be at Ambu’s headquarters in Ballerup.

Involved in all aspects of the innovation process
As Senior R&D Engineer, you will be a vital player in product development projects within our anesthesiology area as you will be involved in all aspects of the innovation process – from the conceptual design to the product validation. You will work closely with marketing and participate in the interaction with future users to optimize the current product portfolio and identify opportunities for new and sustainable products. You will be responsible for the documentation throughout your work, working according to the principles of design control.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To identify user needs through participation in the project start-up phase where interaction with key opinion leaders, doctors and other experts worldwide is crucial in order to fulfil the ambitious innovation targets.
  • Concept development of ground-breaking products within the anesthesia and airways product area
  • Mechanical design. You will be responsible for plastic and mechanical construction within the development project groups.
  • Documentation in accordance with the regulations from FDA and ISO.

Your contact base will be broad, and you will have an interface with Ambu’s global organisation, all departments involved in product development projects and externally with users, knowledge centers and suppliers.

Experienced medical device engineer
You have knowledge of developing medical devices, and you are able to translate user-needs into mechanical solutions. You have solid experience with plastic and mechanical construction. Most likely, you are employed in a similar job within the medical device industry or in a consultancy that deals with the medical device field. Your previous employments have given you solid experience with documentation according to FDA/ISO guidelines. We expect that you have at least five years of experience as a mechanical engineer, preferably within medical device development. Clinical experience will be a bonus.
You hold a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, medical technology, material science or similar.
As a person you are curious, highly motivated and flexible. You have great interpersonal skills and have a sense of occasion, which makes you thrive in global teams. You have a passion for new challenges, you are a “do’er” and prefer to act rather than theorise about problems. You have a strong sense of responsibility towards your work. You work in a structured and proactive way, but you are flexible and able to “think outside the box”.

Since we are a global company, you will be involved in cross-cultural collaboration. Consequently, it is a requirement that you are fluent in English and that you are able to communicate efficiently. Lastly, you thrive in a position that gives you the opportunity to travel approximately 30-40 days a year.
