Take up the exciting challenge as Senior Naval Architect in the Naval Architecture department in our Copenhagen headquarter. 

The department is a part of Fleet Technology in Maersk Line.
Fleet Technology is a specialized maritime engineering competence center responsible for ship design and supporting the Maersk Line fleet of more than 300 container vessels. 

Fleet Technology delivers the complete project lifecycle covering newbuildings, ship conversions, technical innovation, vessel recycling and a variety of other specialist technical services to the Maersk fleet.

You will be working on projects with a large variation in complexity and size, from quick investigations to large fleet-wide design projects, and really being able to impact the way the fleet is operated.

Key responsibilities
In the Naval Architecture department, we are responsible for creating the world’s best container vessel designs, from new idea to final delivery. We are preparing and reviewing technical specifications and drawings, and at the same time we are involved in negotiations with Shipyards and Suppliers.

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage, monitor and execute projects efficiently and effectively
  • Be our technical expert on a specific range of topics, deliver the relevant analysis and engineering recommendations
  • Support a variety of dynamic tasks, being a mix of long-term projects and fast-delivery tasks
  • Facilitate excellent communication and cooperation between teams from Engineering, Site Offices, Shipyards and Suppliers
  • Continuously improve our container vessel designs
  • Be a professional and pro-active colleague in a flat project organization

We are looking for

You are a passionate Naval Architect and hold a university degree in this field. 

Furthermore, you have developed are strong technical profile through at least 6-8 years professional experience in ship design engineering, optimization or classification.

You have strong interpersonal and team working skills with a “self-starter” attitude. 

You are a confident and effective communicator, with the ability to discuss technical topics in all levels of a global organization.

It will also be considered a significant benefit, if you have expertise in statutory/stability topics, hull form optimization, hydrodynamics and/or container stowage and lashing design.

It will be considered an important benefit, if you can document experience in working with data analysis techniques, as well as special software, for example CAD, FEM, NAPA and/or CFD.

Preferably, you have led a small team of engineers covering concept/basic vessel design.

And finally, you display excellent proficiency in written and spoken English, along with outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
