Senior Geotechnical Engineer for large offshore wind projects
Would you like to help us develop and construct large offshore wind projects in Northern Europe and worldwide?

Join us and become Senior Geotechnical Engineer in the Geotechnical Site Assessment Team where you’ll work with a wide range of geotechnical activities related to the development, design and construction of offshore wind farms. We’re the world’s largest developer of offshore wind power, and the development of our solutions is based on full in-house know-how within all aspects of offshore wind power technology. The Geotechnical Site Assessment Team belongs under the Geotechnical Engineering department, which is part of a large engineering group of more than 600 engineers.

Your key tasks will be to

  • provide high-quality geotechnical support to our offshore wind projects
  • be responsible for a project from an early development phase through to construction and for providing high-quality geotechnical input to both internal and external colleagues performing geotechnical designs and installation predictions of various offshore structures
  • plan and scope phased geotechnical site investigations
  • handle the technical management of such investigations, including in situ testing and laboratory works
  • perform geotechnical site assessments, including interpretation of laboratory and in situ testing results.

Furthermore, you’ll handle the development of 3D ground modelling in close collaboration with our geologists and geophysicists as well as handling the derivation of site-specific engineering soil properties and profiles for design. You’ll be required to engage with internal and external stakeholders as part of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural environment where you’ll provide high-level geotechnical support for the projects in terms of ground modelling, geotechnical risk assessments, jack-up assessments and relevant installation considerations, etc.

You’ll also support and mentor junior geotechnical engineers as part of the preparation of engineering soil profiles for design, detailed engineering reports (e.g. GIRs) and technical notes documenting conclusions and recommendations. Furthermore, you may also be involved in R&D initiatives within geotechnical engineering, collaborating with our industry partners to support the Group’s overall aim to reduce the cost of energy in relation to offshore wind.

Your competences include that you

  • have a master’s degree or PhD degree in geotechnical engineering or equivalent
  • have solid experience within geotechnical engineering
  • have an innovative and proactive approach to your work as we see technical development of novel methods to derive optimised soil properties as an integral part of our work
  • have a genuine interest in soil behaviour and in situ and lab testing
  • have a result-oriented approach to your work, show initiative and are able to compromise when required.

Moreover, it’ll be advantageous if you have experience with managing teams to deliver results and if you have a track record of delivering complex and high-quality geotechnical projects. Experience with offshore geotechnical site investigation and/or advanced geotechnical laboratory testing as well as experience with handling large quantities of geotechnical data and state-of-practice assessments of design-optimised soil strength and stiffness properties will be also a plus. Furthermore, it’ll be an advantage if you have expert knowledge of geotechnical data handling packages such as gINT, experience in producing GIRs and a solid understanding of geotechnical design of offshore structures.
