Scour Engineer for offshore wind farms

Would you like to take coastal engineering offshore and design the underwater world of seabed/structure interaction?

Join us and become Scour Engineer in the Site Investigation Management department. The department provides all scour related assessments and designs and is responsible for managing site investigations and analysing geophysical seabed surveys for planned and operating wind farms.

Site Investigation Management is part of Wind Power which has 1800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe, and we are expanding with international activities in the US and Asia-Pacific.

You will be based at our office in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work.

Your key tasks will be to

  • design scour protections for foundations, cables and cable crossings
  • assess scour development around unprotected structures
  • analyse seabed mobility for forecasting of future seabed levels
  • support R&D activities for design optimisations
  • ensure quality of construction through quarry visits and liaison with the installation team.

As Scour Engineer, you will provide high-quality coastal engineering support to our offshore wind projects with focus on scour and seabed morphodynamic design aspects. You will typically work on multiple projects from the early site assessment and design phase and through construction, operation and maintenance.

Your qualifications and core competences include that you

  • have a master's degree within the field of coastal engineering or equivalent
  • have an analytical mindset and programming skills for data processing
  • enjoy project work with many internal and external stakeholders
  • have a social tune
  • thrive in an English speaking international environment.

Scour engineering combines sediment transport with offshore hydraulics to design irregular rock structures. Your theoretical understanding of fundamental hydrodynamics will be related to quarry rock production, the contractors’ installation process and the seabed response to structures as well as scour protection. Combined, this will allow you to assess the integrity of the assets and propose actions to be taken.

We offer
A unique and challenging job where you have every opportunity to develop your skills, when you help to carry out some of the world's largest offshore wind projects.

In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
