Research Engineer in Electrical Engineering/Cryogenics at Microsoft Quantum Copenhagen and the Center for Quantum Devices

MICROSOFT QUANTUM COPENHAGEN and Center for Quantum Devices at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen are looking for a Research Engineer with a background in ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING or CRYOGENICS. The successful candidate will be a part of a team that designs and maintains electronics and cryogenic instruments for experimental quantum computing research.  
 
The position  
The successful candidate will have the following tasks: 

  • Design microwave/analog electronics for cryogenics. 
  • Maintain state-of-the-art electronics and cryogenic equipment 
  • Assemble and debug RF/microwave setups 
  • Assemble various electronic devices  
  • Maintain an organized and efficient lab working environment 

 
It is also possible for the candidate to participate in: 

  • PCB design 
  • FPGA programming 
  • Software development  

The position is open from 1 June 2019 or by arrangement.  
 
The candidate  
We expect that the successful candidate 

  • Has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Cryogenics or Experimental Physics.  
  • Has hands-on experience with microwave/analog electronics or cryogenics. 
  • Has strong organizational skills to manage several multi-disciplinary projects at the same time.  

Microsoft Quantum is a large collaborative project between Microsoft and top universities in the USA, Denmark, Netherlands and Australia. The main goal of the project is to build a topological quantum computer. You can read more about it at www.microsoft.com/quantum.  
 
The Center for Quantum Devices at the University of Copenhagen (http://qdev.nbi.ku.dk/) comprises a large group of ambitious experimentalists, theorists, engineers and technicians exploring coherent quantum effects in advanced solid-state electronic devices.

Terms of appointment and payment  
The position is at the University of Copenhagen. The duration is one year with the possibility of extension.   
Salary, pension and terms of employment are according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The minimum salary is AC level 4 (25.552,08 kr/month + 17,1% pension). It may be possible to negotiate a personal qualification supplement.
