Together with our customers, partners and the global community, we use our innovative thinking and passion for science to boost industries and make everyday products more sustainable for the good of the planet. As the world’s leading provider of industrial enzymes and microorganisms, our bio-innovation enables higher agricultural yields, low-temperature washing, energy-efficient production, renewable fuel and many, many other biological solutions that the world can benefit from today and in the future. We call it Rethink Tomorrow.

Join us as our new Protein Engineering Scientist for Bioinformatics & Design, Molecular Discovery, Denmark
We are witnessing an explosion in the availability of protein sequence and structure information – our ambition is to unlock this potential to engineer the best molecules for our customers. In the Bioinformatics and Design department we select natural wild-type enzymes in close interaction with discovery teams across the unit. We use structural bioinformatics, molecular modelling as well as deep learning technology to engineer our protein backbones to fit the production and application needs.

In the role as Protein Engineering Scientist you will work closely with the rest of the department to help ensure a continued development of our protein design toolset. You will work to support the agile discovery teams in the organization to engineer selected backbones to the desired conditions using e.g. sequence information, protein structure understanding and deep learning tools, as well as data-driven design in close collaboration with the colleagues in the wet lab.

Welcome to Molecular Discovery
You will be joining a fantastic team of dedicated scientists with diverse competences in molecular biology, protein structure, molecular modelling, wild-type enzyme discovery, deep learning and natural language processing. We bring these competences together to discover and engineer new enzymes that help our customers optimize their processes, save energy, reduce chemicals and lower the overall environmental impact.

To succeed you must:

  • Have a PhD in Protein Engineering, Biophysics, Protein Structure or similar, preferably with postdoc experience
  • Have solid experience with scripting frameworks, preferably Python/R and Jupyter notebooks, and work comfortably on collaborative code stack development
  • Have an innovation mindset and skills to apply deep learning to help solve our problems.
  • Be a passionate and result-driven scientist, strong team player with good communicative skills
  • Have experience with standard protein structure analysis, design and simulation tools such as Pymol, Gromacs and Rosetta.
  • Have previous experimental experience is preferred, especially within enzyme biophysics and protein characterization is an advantage
