Project Manager with a background in electronics

Do you get inspired by the idea of being the driving force in developing cutting-edge instruments? Are you proficient in all phases of development, from system design to market launch? And do you have a strong technical background with a wish to work in a world leading innovative Danish company? Then this may be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are searching for an experienced project manager - ideally with a background as electronics or mechanics engineer - with the desire to make a difference and help us deliver successful projects on time and budget.

The job
We are looking for a project manager to be responsible for new instrument projects of high technical complexity within the area of food analysis. You will be part of the Instrument Development Department, where we drive projects from concept to launch. As project manager you will be key in maturing, developing and finalizing instruments that assist producers in delivering more and improved food for the benefit of us all.

You will do this by heading and coordinating a project team consisting of a variety of highly skilled technical personnel from many different backgrounds such as Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Software, Chemistry, Micro Biology, Optics etc., as well as cross functional team members from Sales and Marketing, Production, Logistics, Service etc. This means you will be dealing with a high level of complexity in the teams covering a diversity of educational and functional backgrounds.

Joining Foss also provides you with the unique possibility of working in a company housing all elements of instrument development on site - from concept development to production in our factories. This gives you a wide span of influence from the initial stages of fostering new ideas to the possibility of seeing and discussing how the final instrument is produced.

Primary tasks
As a project manager you will be responsible for leading both small and large teams. You will typically be working on 1-2 development projects in parallel with a typical life time of 12-24 months. These projects will be a mix of smaller development projects as well as high complexity projects, all focusing on high quality and innovative solutions.

Your tasks will be centered around coordinating and planning the concrete development process and vary from having daily interactions with your team to ensure progress to having close dialogue with customers in order to secure a perfect match between their needs and our solutions. This means that you will set the direction for the team, constantly prioritizing and deciding on where to focus, always in close collaboration with your colleagues. Furthermore, you will be responsible for stakeholder management as well as reporting to steering committees and corporate management.

This takes something extra. It is challenging and fun as development processes are always unpredictable, and requires that you can manage and drive projects with agility and a focus on problem solving and execution.

Qualifications
In order to succeed in the job, you must be technically well grounded with a scientific master in Electronics. You have solid experience as a project manager for instrument projects, and a proven track record with most or all project phases from system design to market launch.

It is also important that you have experience with cross-functional team work with colleagues from Sales, Marketing, Service and Production. Lastly, it will be an advantage if you have experience with production maturation, cost optimization and commercial launch of new products.

It is a requirement to have a Danish work permit.

Personal skills
You are able to deal with different stakeholders and people enjoy working with you, because you have a positive mindset even when you are challenged and deadlines are tight. As you will be leading cross functional project teams, it is important that you are good at working with people with different skills and mindsets. Organizational skills, communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to execute are critical.

You are able to meet deadlines and you thrive with the complex task of finding the optimal solutions for the projects while focusing on the customer. Because of the nature of the projects, it is important that you adopt an execution focused approach to running the projects.

We offer
We offer a challenging job in an international and innovative company that is a world leader in its field. You will be a part of the R&D Instrument Development team, where you will have the opportunity to make a difference and help us deliver successful projects.

At FOSS, we put the employees and the quality of cooperation highly and you will have good opportunities to develop professionally and personally. We believe that cooperation based on trust, open dialogue, clear objectives and good colleagues who help each other gives motivation and job satisfaction. We want to motivate our employees to take responsibility and influence.
