Postdoc in Pervasive Health Technology for Diabetes Management
The Copenhagen Center for Health Technology (CACHET) is looking for a post-doctoral researcher within pervasive healthcare technology for diabetes management. You will have a central role in designing novel interactive and ubiquitous diabetes management technology to be used in clinical trials. You will be part of a large European project with academic and commercial partners.

CACHET is a strategic research partnership between the Capital Region of Denmark, the City of Copenhagen, the Medical and Health Faculty at the University of Copenhagen, and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). We carry out many different research projects together with our academic, clinical, and industrial partners.

Your work will be part of the technological research in CACHET, which is carried out at the DTU Department of Health Technology and the DTU Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. You will be part of a team of computer science researchers, postdocs, PhD students, and programmers at DTU.

Responsibilities and tasks
As a post doc in CACHET you will lead and work within a team of researchers and software engineers in designing and developing technology for data collection, management, and visualization for diabetes management.

As part of this team, your role will be to;

  • lead and manage the user-centered design process in close cooperation with patients, clinicians, care workers, and the academic and commercial partners in the project
  • survey existing interactive and pervasive health technologies for diabetes management
  • be responsible for the design of a novel patient-centric technological solution for diabetes management and lead the development of it as part of the team
  • be the technical responsible during the clinical trial
  • lead the publication of academic papers on the research done

CACHET is an interdisciplinary research center and you will be working with;

  • technical researchers focusing on algorithms and approaches for health data analysis, software architectures for collection and management of health data, sensor and wearable technology, and the design of end-user applications for mobile health (mHealth)
  • clinical researchers, medical doctors, nurses, community care workers, and end-users in the design of diabetes tools to be used in clinical practice.

A key role will be to work as the project manager for the technological design, implementation, and evaluation.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in computer science or computer engineering with a strong research track record and experience in one or more of the following research areas:

  • human-computer interaction & UX design
  • ubiquitous computing
  • mobile, wearable, and pervasive health applications
  • software engineering and software architecture

In addition, you have:

  • a strong background in design science, including human-computer interaction and UX design
  • solid technological skills with a demonstrated portfolio of software and/or hardware development experience
  • strong analytical and academic skills
  • compelling oral and written communication skills in English with a track record of scientific publications, conference presentations, reports and/or popular dissemination
  • experience in teaching and supervision of students at an academic level
  • the ability to work in an international academic setting with a variety of different colleagues and partners, including the ability to travel internationally for meetings
  • project management experience e.g. from your Ph.D. project

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is from February 1, 2019 or as soon as possible to December 31, 2021. The workplace will be DTU Lyngby Campus. The position is a full-time position.
