We have just completed another successful chipset for our hearing instruments and ramping up on the next generation. To help us make this happen, we are looking for a Physical Design Engineer to join our Physical IC Design team. The team is responsible for taking designs from RTL to GDS, integrating analog and digital IP from internal design teams and external suppliers, and delivering the finalized design to our manufacturing partners.

Good reasons to join Oticon…
Engineers in Denmark have ranked Oticon as the #1 electronics company to work in. We believe it is our innovative work environment. We develop best in class hearing solutions and try to bound the limits of what is possible at all. Oticon is a large, growing company in the medical-technical industry where our 600+ engineers are all committed to deliver high quality, high tech solutions for hearing impaired people worldwide.

So join us in the Silicon Engines department in our Research & Development unit, where we develop the chipsets used in our hearing instruments and accessories. The goal is to ensure technological leadership in our products by developing state-of-the-art innovative silicon solutions, featuring world-class performance in DSP processing power, audio quality, connectivity, artificial intelligence, and re-chargeability in smallest size and lowest power consumption.

Professional and innovative work environment
We offer you the opportunity to work and develop yourself in a team of very skilled individuals. With the rest of the team, you will be working with advanced technologies and methodologies and influence the distribution of tasks. We cover all aspects of the implementation process from library characterization through synthesis and place & route to final signoff.

We place emphasis on a professional and innovative working environment. Continuous development of your technical skills by attending technical courses and conferences on the latest developments in the field is part of this. So, leave your fingerprint on our products and influence the way we work. We value your input and would like to hear about your ideas and simply share knowledge with you.

Your professional skills
Most important, you should take pride in your profession and the quality of your work. You are either an experienced engineer, who can step in and contribute immediately, or you are a talented recent graduate with an ambition to develop into the role. We expect you to have experience with some or all the following competencies:

  • Physical implementation including design planning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing and timing closure
  • Chip finishing and signoff including parasitic extraction, LVS/DRC, rail analysis and Static Timing Analysis
  • Low power and multi-voltage design
  • Hierarchical design styles and flows
  • Relevant physical implementation and signoff tools
  • Basic understanding of Design for Test, scan compression, BIST and ATPG
  • Basic understanding of transistor level design, including SPICE simulations, transistor models and variation
  • Basic understanding of standard cell libraries, including library characterization, timing models, variation (OCV, POCV, LVF) and physical models

Your personal skills
As a person, you have a passion for IC implementation and an eye for quality. You see the benefit in cooperation and mutual knowledge sharing, and you have a positive attitude. You have a sense for detail, while still being able to maintain an overview and meet your deadlines. You work well in a self-driven environment based on freedom with responsibility. You can handle several tasks simultaneously without losing the perspective or sense of quality.
