Would you like to make your mark on the future VELUX products by working with mechanical module development from concept to final production implementation? And do you want to work with different kind of materials and components with a high degree of independence from design templates?

Then this is your chance to bring your brilliant ideas to life in a globally leading company within sustainable indoor living.

Your challenges
Together with your team in VELUX Centre of Excellence, Mechatronics & Power Supply, you will play a significant role in developing the mechanical modules for our product development projects. The modules may be drive units for opening and closing of windows and accessories, power supplies or remote controls. Moreover, you will also be part of team projects focusing on new technologies as well as optimisation initiatives. As an integral part of a cross-functional unit, you will team up with other developers, colleagues within hardware and software as well as technical project managers. Also, you will be in touch with our Value Streams, Purchasing, Workshops, Manufacturing and Quality.

As mechanical engineer, you will play a central role in the development process and you will get unique opportunities to work with all aspects of mechanical development from the early concept phase over prototyping, documentation and until release for production.

More specifically your tasks will include:

  • Understanding customer needs to meet module cost, features and performance criteria
  • Analysis, testing and verification of materials, modules and module performance as well as quality assurance
  • Design for Manufacturing
  • Construction in CAD as well as writing documentation and providing technical project managers with business case material
  • Working with our prototyping workshop to make physical prototypes to test your construction according to requirements related to design, function and quality

”With increasing focus on smart homes and IOT, we constantly have to look for new technologies, and there is a huge potential for growth. Your challenge will be to take all the needs and wishes for each product and boil them down to an amazing module,” explains Martin Armand Mortensen, Senior Manager, CoE Mechatronics & Power Supply.

Your qualifications
You have a creative mindset and have the ability to turn ideas into solutions. Moreover, you thrive on being involved in all project phases and you thrive working in a project culture characterised by cross-functional knowledge sharing. Seeing things from the customer point of view, you remain structured and detail-oriented and take pride in ensuring progress and delivering on time. To you, collaboration is key, and you know that effective communication and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical decision-makers will get you far.

  • You are most likely a mechanical engineer on B.Sc. or M.Sc. level, and you have 3+ years of practical construction experience
  • You have experience with several types of materials, but it would be an advantage if you have worked with plastics design and development
  • You have experience working in 3D CAD, experience with Creo preferable, and it would be an advantage if you have worked with the development of mass-produced products
  • As you will engage with stakeholders throughout our organisation, you must be fluent in Danish and English

Your opportunities
In Mechatronics & Power Supply, we are 14 dedicated development engineers - within both hardware, software, mechanics, technical project managers and documentation specialists who work in cross-organisational project teams. In addition to operating at a highly professional level, our team is characterized by an informal tone and a healthy sense of humor. We work as one team to reach our ambitious results. We believe in empowering people, and we support this through sharing knowledge, delegating responsibility and investing in people who strive to make a difference. We have a great mix of competences and many years of experience, so you will never fall short of feedback or a helping hand.

”The atmosphere is great, and the tone is straightforward. I think it is important to have fun because the best hours of the day fall during work hours. You will meet colleagues who enjoy working in depth with modules and who have all the resources to make prototypes and tests during development. It feels good to be able to hold the physical component or module in your hand to test and explore,” finishes Martin.
