Mechanical Development Engineer with plastics design experience.

Would you like to make your mark on the future VELUX windows accessories by working with product development from concept to final product launch?

Then this is your chance to bring your brilliant ideas to life in a globally leading company within sustainable indoor living.

Your challenges
You will play a significant role in the development of our internal and external accessories to VELUX windows, e.g. curtains, blinds, awnings and roller shutters. Through our VELUX Stage Gate process, you will be involved in the entire process from product concept development to final implementation in our production.

In this process, you will be part of a project team consisting of other product developers, a project manager and a technical project manager. Together, you move through the phases of development, working closely with global product managers, our supply chain, test lab and workshop as well as suppliers to mature your ideas. This involves:

  • Understanding customer needs to meet product cost, features and product performance criteria
  • Developing both new features for existing products as well as brand-new products altogether
  • Analysis, testing and verification of materials, products and product performance as well as quality assurance
  • Design for Manufacturing
  • Construction in CAD as well as writing documentation and providing project managers with business case material
  • Working with our prototyping workshop to make physical models and prototypes to test your construction according to requirements related to design, function and quality.

”As a product developer, you probably know the feeling: a product can always be even better. And it is a balancing act to know when you have taken your development process far enough. Thus, fast iterations are an important part of our way of working, and we are lucky to have easy access to both our own prototype workshop and test lab to support in our daily work,” explains Gitte Ramsing Beck, Senior Manager, Value Stream Accessories.

Your qualifications
You have a creative mind-set, turning ideas into solutions. Moreover, you thrive being involved in all project phases and working in a project culture characterised by cross-functional knowledge sharing. Seeing things from the customer point-of-view, you remain structured and detail-oriented and take pride in ensuring progress and delivering on time. To you, collaboration is key, and you know that effective communication and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical decision makers will get you far.

Most likely, you are a mechanical engineer, or maybe you have a background as a machine technician with solid practical construction experience.
You have experience with plastics design and development in 3D CAD.
Experience with CREO, Windchill and Six Theta as well as with development of consumer products is an advantage.
As you will engage with stakeholders throughout our organisation, you must be fluent in Danish and English.

Your opportunities
Based in Skjern, you will join our development team for accessories, Value Stream Team Accessories, which is part of VELUX Innovation Center. We are 18 dedicated project managers, technical project managers, development engineers, documentation specialists and prototype developers working in cross-organisational project teams. Besides the collaboration in our own team, you will also work closely with developers from other teams such as Windows, Software, Mechatronics, Test, Quality and our market organisation.

”We have gathered all the competences we need for product development in one brand-new team. Already, we feel a great energy and team spirit where we help each other and share our knowledge. We sit together with the people we work on projects with, and each project team has the ability to make important decisions for the development process. It is crucial for us that decisions are made as close to the experts as possible,” finishes Gitte.
