Project Description
The TRIOS 3D inter-oral scanner can create 20 3D RGB-D images pr. second. In a post processing step a geometrically optimized mesh is created from all the captured images and a texture is created using pr. Vertex colors from the optimized mesh. However, it should be possible to obtain a much sharper texture of higher visual quality if the information from all the 3D images are used instead of the vertex colors. Just using the 3D images directly might not be enough, though, as the registration is based only on geometry and therefore might not correspond with the colors. It is therefore natural to include the design of a specially designed color optimization step in this project too. The goal of this project is to improve the scanned colors in order to make them more sharp and realistic.

Requirements
The project will last approximately 5 to 6 months and should be conducted as your master thesis project. You can write it alone or in groups. You should be a master student enrolled in the Computer Science, Software Development or other relevant programs. We expect from you to have a relevant knowledge and experience in the following fields:

• Good knowledge of Linear Algebra
• Attended courses in 3D Computer Graphics
• Attended courses in image analysis
