Low level Embedded Software Developer for next generation microchips
Do you thrive on hardcore technical challenges and have what it takes to become part of an ambitious team? Would you like to develop advanced proprietary multi-core Network-on-Chip IoT chipsets? And are you looking for a career, where you help to make a real difference for millions of people worldwide? Then we have a unique opportunity for you!

In your new position at Oticon, you will be part of the Chipset Firmware Platform Group consisting of 20 highly skilled colleagues. The atmosphere is informal and humorous but at the same time highly ambitious - we are not afraid to say that we have some of the best developers in town!

Your challenge - maximum performance with minimum resources
Essentially, the challenge is to deliver the most advanced audio-enabled, wearable IoT device available, packed in a tiny shell, running of a minuscule battery and living up to medical device standards. This means that you must be able to design safe C code, that provides advanced functionality while taking up no space, using no current and providing real-time guarantees for the audio system. The firmware platform includes HW drivers, power management, file system, RTOS and two wireless audio systems.

You will have the opportunity to significantly impact millions of users of Oticon hearing aids across the globe, as the proprietary Network-on-Chip based chipset is used in all Oticon hearing aids. You will be involved in the development all the way from IC design specification through firmware platform development to release to the market.

In summary, you will:

  • Design, develop and release firmware for our chipset
  • Contribute to the definition of the IC so it fits firmware needs
  • Master the challenge to develop firmware on a custom IC while it is under development

Your expertise - Low level embedded software development
We are looking for experienced developers and for talented new-graduates.

We expect you to hold a relevant degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering and have experience with development of low-level embedded systems, specifically within the following areas:

  • Low-level embedded programming in C
  • Understanding of processor architectures
  • Understanding of real-time operating systems
  • Programming for memory/power/time constrained systems
  • Experience with Linux and scripting

It is an advantage to understand digital design languages (VHDL/Verilog), which will enable you to dig into the IC to debug issues. This is relevant since we work on custom ICs, which have not been verified by a broad user base.

We put people first
Our mission is clear: We want hearing impaired to be able to experience the sounds of life. This is the foundation for everything we do. This is what drives us and keeps us focussed on innovation and efficiency. We want to develop the world’s best hearing healthcare solutions. Nothing less.

And: We believe that the best results come from a fruitful team effort. We support each other and constantly share feedback and knowledge to improve our results. We have an informal and creative atmosphere where respect is pivotal and we strive for the common goal.
