Do you want to learn more about the industrial applications of the physics of fluids in collaboration with an international company? Are you ready to conduct your own research project focusing on experimental or computational (CFD) fluid dynamics? Would you like to improve your skills in the use of advanced numerical, experimental, and data-processing investigation tools?

Here is what your role entails
In this Internship position, you will be conducting your own research project focusing on fluid dynamics. You will be driving the project all the way from identification of targets to the presentation of the findings in a scientific paper/report, of course, with the support of the tools we have at Kamstrup, as well as the expertise of your colleagues. Your work could be converted into a master’s thesis in collaboration with your university, the subject depending on your interests, Kamstrup’s needs, and the eventual requirements from your supervising professor.

Examples of possible projects include:

  • Using numerical and experimental methods, develop an accurate prediction of flow stratification in pipes. This phenomenon occurs in low-moving flows subdued to heat transfer.
  • Develop the methodology for accurately predicting laminar to turbulent transition in ultrasonic flow meters. This project will employ CFD and experiments to analyze and quantify the effects of transitional flow in ultrasonic flow meters.

Meet your future team
In this Internship position, you will become a part of the Metrology team within our Quality & Sustainability department. The team consists of 9 colleagues whom you will be on equal footing with during your internship. We work together to maintain and improve the test benches used to verify the meters we produce. Likewise, we conduct long-term research on fluid dynamics phenomena and measurement methods to stay up to date on current solutions and methods of working. We value mutual inspiration as well as professional and personal development, and cooperation and sparring are second nature in the way we work.

Did you know? The metrology group is one of the most diverse groups in Kamstrup, in terms of educational background, nationality, age, and competencies.

Less about us, more about you
We are looking for an Intern who is eager to learn and to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology. As you will be running your own project, you are used to taking and having responsibility and following through on it.
In order to succeed we imagine that you:

  • Are studying a master’s degree within Engineering, Physics, or another relevant field
  • Have a theoretical understanding of fluid mechanics
  • Ideally have experimental experience or knowledge of OpenFOAM and coding/scripting in Python or similar
  • Appreciate professional collaboration and sparring

As we are an international organisation it is important that you are fluent in English.

We want to support a diverse and inclusive workplace, so while you may not meet all the qualifications listed above, you could still be a good candidate for the position. If you find the role intriguing, do not hesitate to apply.

We offer more than just an internship
At Kamstrup, your contribution as an intern is highly valued, and we cherish the good colleagueship. Therefore, you will experience an internship with a strong focus on your individual development through challenging tasks, career sparring, voluntary courses, as well as social events and a large network. We are proud that our internship program has resulted in Studenterhus Aarhus granting us with the Mentor Award, the Internationalization Award, the Jury’s Special Award and the award for East Jutland’s Best Internship.

Besides the best program, we also offer:

  • The internship is paid if your place of study allows it
  • Multiple internship events and weekly internship lunches
  • Employee benefits including a healthy canteen, fitness facilities, in-house dental clinic, hairdresser, and a free health clinic
  • An active employee association, that fosters a collaborative and supportive workplace community

Do you want to be a part of Kamstrup?
The applications are reviewed on a continuous basis, but you can expect a response within six weeks. Any details about the internship will be individually agreed upon. However, the internship is expected to run from the beginning of February 2025 until the end of June 2025.

Kamstrup is located in Stilling south of Aarhus, and bus number 200 takes you right to the door.

If you have any questions about the position, please contact Head of Metrology and Accreditation, Martino Reclari, on telephone nr.: (+45) 89 93 10 00.
