Hardware Electronics Manager with people and project responsibility

Manager in the Electronics Group
Oticon, part of the Demant group, is a large, fast growing company in the medical-technical industry where our +600 engineers are committed to deliver well-made, high tech solutions for hearing impaired people worldwide. You will be People and Project Manager in our R&D Hearing Instrument Electronics group, which is responsible for developing all electronic designs for Demants hearing aid solutions. The Electronics group is part of the Hardware function that develops the complete hearing solution platforms consisting of both mechanical and electronic parts.

As people manager, you’ll be leading a group of 7-8 highly skilled electronics designers. Daily guidance, prioritization and motivation as well as team and individual development will be your key tasks. As project manager, you will be responsible for executing several electronics development projects varying in complexity, ranging from component development to full hearing aid electronics. In each project, you will work closely together with the lead designer and project team. You will typically be involved from the early definition phase all the way to the final delivery to manufacturing. You will, furthermore, also be a part of the leadership team for the Electronics group, where you will participate in short term planning and execution as well as working on the strategic development of the group.

Experience in people and project management
We expect you to hold a M.Sc. or B.Sc. within Electronic Engineering. You have a solid experience from designing electronic circuits, PCB layout, and manufacturing – preferably from a company within business areas such as medical devices, consumer electronics, hearing aids or the like. Furthermore, you have experience from dealing with external component suppliers.

To be successful in your new role, you need to have at least some years of experience in people and project management. Therefore, you are used to driving complex projects with a variety of stakeholders. This is done through close cooperation with the lead developer and project team, following our development model and other quality processes. If you hold a formal project management education or certification, this will be an advantage.

People and communication skills
As a person you are characterized by having mastered the fine art of leading and managing highly specialized and dedicated employees. Therefore, your people skills are well developed, and you possess excellent communication capabilities. It is natural for you to create professional and fruitful relationships inside as well as outside the organization. You know what it takes to win people for your cause and make them follow you. Not because they must, but because they want to.
