Functional modulation of the microbiome of the rumen and gastrointestinal tract of animals
In Chr. Hansen we see an enormous potential within applying microbiome innovation to the development of new ingredient solutions for animal health products. As such, your overall tasks will be to take us to the next level within your area of expertise. More specifically, you will work with the functional modulation of the microbiome of the rumen and gastrointestinal tract of animals.
Your primary tasks will be to:  

Study probiotic Mode of Action  

  • Lead the efforts to study and understand mode of action of on-market strains, development strains and research leads in the area of microbiome interaction, microbial community physiology and microbe/microbiome/host interaction  

Ensure data flow to scientific marketing  

  • Engage the Commercial Development Strategic Directors and Product Managers to align on scientific data needs  
  • Ensure flow of scientific data to marketing, particularly in the field of 16s data and microbiome analyses for lead products and strains  

Monitor and engage external technology providers  

  • Actively follow the Field of Research of Animal Health, Animal Feed Probiotics and gut microbiome  
  • Follow and engage developers and providers of relevant and/or emerging technologies  

Manage academic relationships and relevance  

  • Monitor global network of leading academic institutions in your field of expertise  
  • Maintain relationship with leading investigators and Key Opinion Leaders  
  • Publish in international peer reviewed journals of good reputation  

Additionally, you will be involved in target setting, the development of new strains and products, management of animal CRO trials and business development.  

PhD with solid scientific experience within the field of microbiome  
We are looking for a top scientist with the ambition, knowledge and drive to take a leading role. As such, you will need a PhD in Microbiology, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary medicine, computational genomics or the like. This is backed by several years experience as an independent investigator as well as several years’ experience from working in the field of microbiome analysis and data interpretation. This has taught you to establish strong and constructive relations to internal as well as external contacts.  
 
You are used to working hands-on with large bioinformatics data-sets like 16s, metagenomics and transcriptomics and can translate this information to animal science targets. This has provided you with strong hypothesis generation skills including the ability to draw effortlessly on own knowledge, expertise of others, research results and literature. At the same time you have the communication skills needed to tailor your communication to your audience - easy understandable to top management and customers and more detailed to your science colleagues.  

Animal Health Research - your new team  
You will join a team of 6 Scientists and 6 Technicians at the Chr. Hansen headquarters in Hørsholm, approx. 30 minutes drive north of the Copenhagen city center. Our focus is to break new land within the animal health segment. We are very ambitious and share a dedication for being #1 within our field of expertise.
