Engineering Software Developer

About the Job 
Calsep is in the process of restructuring its software products to meet the challenges of the ongoing digitalization in the energy sector. To assist with this transition, Calsep has a job opening for a flexible software developer ready to solve non-standard programming tasks with logically complicated software. The restructuring is to make the simulation engine in Calsep's software less dependent of the context in which it is to be used. It shall be possible to access the engine from a desktop application, from the web, or called as a dll from an external software product. A separation of engineering and presentation layers is required to make it possible in the future, with the least possible effort, to adapt the software to new areas using new presentation tools and techniques. 

Job Tasks 
In an initial training period, the new employee will be given specific tasks related to data storage, developing new controls and reusing existing ones. As the program structure and application of Calsep's software become clearer, the employee will be involved in developing new applications and separating the GUI layer from underlying business layers. There are high requirements to the robustness, and new unit tests must be developed for each new application. As digitalization in the energy  sector gains momentum, more tasks will be related to making Calsep's software available as cloud applications.

Qualifications
The right candidate could have an M. Sc. in an engineering discipline combined with some years of experience in coding technical software using C# and OOP concepts. Other required skills are 

• Experience with DevExpress or other leading user control-sets for WinForms/WPF
• Ability to adapt to new software tools and standards
• Structured programming 
• Interest applying engineering disciplines in software development.
• High level of abstraction

Calsep is in close contact with its key customers, and it is important to have the ability to communicate with end-user IT staff and use the gained information to advise Calsep's engineers on what software IT-technical solutions to offer.
