If you have a passion for the microbial diversity of nature and want a career that lets you combine scientific excellence with applied science, you could be our new colleague in Bacterial Discovery department.

You will drive our bacteriology research for enzyme discovery and become an important initiator of new enzymes across Novozymes' broad pipeline of applications and projects. You will work in a highly skilled team of 15 scientists and research associates, and you will have an experienced network of other microbiologists. You will participate in project teams and in technology development, and decide on the screening strategy and methods for the individual projects. Your task is to apply and develop bacterial isolation, screening and assay technologies for various industry applications e.g. in the fields of household care, animal nutrition or biomass conversion. You will continuously expand and increase the value of our bacterial enzyme gene pool.

You exhibit a strong drive and have a genuine interest in collaborating with your research colleagues and with application scientists in our cross-functional project teams.

In this position you need to:

• Hold a PhD and preferably 2-3 years of relevant job experience within bacteriology or microbial ecology
• Have solid knowledge of bacterial diversity, molecular taxonomy, isolation and cultivation methods, and biochemical assays
• Preferably have experience with molecular biology and use of genome sequence data
• Independently plan and carry out experiments in a team with colleagues and research associates
• Come up with innovative solutions and strive towards excellence and have a dedicated and result-oriented approach
• Be a strong communicator, open-minded and have a positive and collaborative attitude
