Scientist for high throughput microbial screening

Our Screening Department in the Discovery Function in Hørsholm is looking for a researcher with a strong background in assay development and high throughput screening of microbial collections. We seek bioengineers with sound, in-depth understanding of biochemical, enzymatic and microbial interaction assay development and with an interest in robot programming. The position requires cross-organizational communication and multidisciplinary collaboration with scientists in microbial research.  
 
The Screening Department is part of the research & development organization at Chr. Hansen. Our main goal is to deliver strains with desired functionality for new product development. Specifically, we develop assays for high throughput phenotypic strain characterization and identify optimal candidates for new product development.

Your tasks  
Your main responsibility will be to develop and implement high throughput microbial screening assays. You will work in the laboratory with liquid handling robot programming, developing assays for screening, executing and supervising daily screening activities.  

• Develop biological and biochemical screening assays that allow for selection of strains for new product development  
• Validate and improve predictability of screening assays  
• Analyse large data sets and prepare protocols that allow for fast and smooth processing of results  
• Participate in the preparation of internal reports and scholarly articles for publications  

 
Your personal profile 

• You are trained in bioengineering, microbiology, biochemistry or a related field. A PhD degree in the aforementioned fields is preferred, but not mandatory  
• Have technical skills and are interested in robot programming/scripting  
• Have strong data management and analytical skills  
• Are ambitious, self-motivated, goal- and team-oriented  
• Have good communication and presentation skills
