Would you like to provide expert HSE advice to our Operations organisation?

Join us and become Head of HSE Operations EMEA in one of the leading energy companies in Europe. Our business is based on producing, distributing and trading energy primarily in Northern Europe. We have experienced significant growth in recent years and are facing exciting new challenges across our expanding international portfolio. In Wind Power you will be responsible for providing independent, expert, and professional advice to our Operations organisation on all health, safety and environmental matters.

The department is part of Wind Power which has 1800 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose to be based either at one of our Danish offices in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia or alternatively our Hamburg office in Germany on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Initially, you will travel for on-boarding purposes and afterwards, you should expect some travelling to our main offices and Operational sites.  

You will report to the Head of HSE Operations and support the Head of Execution in Denmark and Germany. Furthermore, you will support the development of the Operations HSE Strategy, and ensure its implementation in the EMEA region. This may involve the development and management of centralised tools that support the wider portfolio. 
 
Your key tasks will be to 

  • implement HSE strategy for EMEA Operational sites 
  • provide expert advice on all matters of health, safety and the environment 
  • represent Wind Power within external forums and in discussions with regulators and contractors 
  • recruit and manage all Danish/German HSE team; ensuring the right competences and experience  
  • ensure good leadership and efficient management of the HSE team on the individual sites e.g. by daily performance management, mentoring and sparring. 
  • Furthermore, you will identify, develop & implement improvements & standardisation including new systems & processes. You will also be responsible for securing synergies and knowledge sharing between sites,  
  • identifying HSE risks across our portfolio and enabling proactive mitigation. You will be asked to secure management of relevant contractual obligations towards external parties and ensure efficient management of internal and external stakeholders as well as support and drive Investigations.

Your qualifications and core competences include that you  

  • have a degree in engineering or another relevant technical degree or in a relevant HSE-related field, including occupational health  
  • are an experienced health and safety professional with extensive industry expertise. Experience with Operational roles in an offshore environment and within the wind industry will be extremely advantageous 
  • are confident in providing complex advice on a range of HSE topics and have knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance procedures within Denmark and Germany. Experience setting up HSE systems and/or operations in new markets will also be advantageous 
  • are able to demonstrate that you have implemented major change projects 
  • have an independent, organised and structured work approach yet you will demonstrate the ability to work without a structure in place.  
  • Furthermore, you speak and write English fluently. Knowledge of German and Danish will be reviewed favourable, but is not a requirement. You have strong people influencing, presentation and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across cultures. In addition, you must be an MS Excel and MS PowerPoint super user and have report writing skills. You will demonstrate strong self-drive, motivation and resilience coupled with a positive mind-set
