Assistant or Associate Professor in Hydrology and Shallow Groundwater

The Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University, Denmark, invites applications for a position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in hydrology and shallow groundwater. The intended starting date is December 1st 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Department of Geoscience
The Department of Geoscience has strong research groups within a broad range of research areas where hydrology/hydrogeophysics is one of the corner stones. The hydrology/hydrogeophysics group currently has four professors and several post docs/geophysicists, PhD and MSc students. The group has a broad range of modern instrumentations, and is known for its interdisciplinary research and education to the benefit of society. Collaboration with geologists, geophysicists, and engineers is extensive. 

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach to quantitative and experimental hydrology within geoscience with emphasis on hydrological interactions between the surface and shallow groundwater. We highly appreciate experimental and numerical modelling skills as well as experience with application of hydrogeophysics. 

The appointee must be independent, outgoing, and enterprising. The appointee will develop research collaborations at the highest international level according to his/her scientific interests and priorities, and will attract external funding from national and international sources. Collaboration with public and private sector partners is expected. The appointee is expected to teach courses and supervise at the BSc, MSc and PhD level. Documented teaching skills will be required. Finally, the appointee is expected to contribute positively to the Department’s organization and to further strengthen collaboration with the industry and public authorities.

Application procedure 
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications - and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, - the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range 
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. 
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any).

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
