Would you like to ensure quality, efficiency and continued development within wind power in Denmark and abroad?

Join us and become Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Substation Electrical Power & Utility Design team.

You will have a proven ability to take on a specialist role within the team and provide support across all ongoing and upcoming projects in the group for onshore and offshore substations. You will support our structural and electrical engineering managers in the performance of various tasks, including review of documentation from contractors/fabricators, site follow-up and participation in factory and site acceptance tests of mechanical components, FES/FAS and HVAC systems.

The department is part of Wind Power which has 1,600 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling to our sites in Denmark and abroad in relation with your work.

Areas of responsibility
As a member of the Substation Electrical Power & Utility Design team, you will be working with electrical and mechanical installations on our onshore and offshore substation projects, where you will be exposed to the full value chain of disciplines and technical solutions ranging from project development to supporting design and development from start to finish.

Your primary work tasks will include assessment of designs submitted by design consultants or fabrication contractors for crane and hoist systems, piping, pumps and valves, fire extinguishing systems and passive fire protection as well as HVAC systems.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to:

  • deliver input to our mechanical technical requirements for engineering, fabrication and construction contractors
  • deliver input to the selection of equipment within the substation scope, ensuring that third-party certification can be achieved
  • participate in tender reviews, clarification meetings, ordering of equipment etc. as a technical specialist
  • provide technical direction for design contractors, follow up on questions during design and fabrication and participate in FAT and SAT tests
  • participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, lay-out reviews etc.

Your profile
You preferably have a marine engineering degree and deep insight into mechanical systems, including crane and hoist systems. You have at least 8 years of work experience, preferably in the offshore industry, and you are fully familiar with industry design standards. You furthermore have knowledge and understanding of the broader implications of technical work, e.g. operability, commissioning and handover when executing projects.

As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently. It is also important that you set high standards for your work and are committed to meeting them, while striving to overcome any obstacles. Furthermore, you enjoy sharing your knowledge with your colleagues in the project group and in your department.

We offer
An exciting job where you have excellent opportunities to develop your competences when you help execute some of the largest construction projects within onshore and offshore wind power.

You will be part of a dynamic and technical department at the forefront of development in the entire field. Our solutions are of a high professional standard, and you will be able to spar with experienced colleagues in an informal environment. We focus on how to best create value for the company, and we are inspired by freedom with responsibility rather than by rules. You will have attractive terms of employment with good educational opportunities. We have an active employee policy, which supports your career throughout the various phases of your working life.

In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
